No jumps horse ever takes to the track more than a handful of times a year, it is those on the flat who can race far more often. Final Orders has now competed in 70 races and the last of them was arguably his best performance in taking down favourite Favori De Champdou in the Cross Country Chase at the 2026 Cheltenham Festival. That was his second win at the track in his past three and showed that the victory in December was no fluke.

Considered to be ‘well-in’ and favourably handicapped, he’ll be one of the lightest horses in the field, carrying just 10st 5lbs for the Grand National.

This 10-year-old has only fallen once, going down in the 2023 Topham, and has shown very steady improvement in recent years. His jumping ability has clearly improved, and in that win at the Cheltenham Festival he gained an unbelievable 28 lengths with his jumping. Couple that with his high levels of stamina and you can see why there is good support for him in the markets.

He is another, though, where you’ll have to take a close look at the going. If there is heavy rain then that will be less than ideal, Good ground would be preferred with Good to Soft likely to be the bottom range of where he’d like to operate.

That victory at Cheltenham was the culmination of quite the career arc for this 10-year-old, who started on the flat and even took to the track on the all-weather. This horse has certainly seen plenty but maybe there is one more glorious chapter to be written on Saturday. I certainly wouldn’t rule him out for a fairytale victory.
