If you want form then I’ve got the horse for you. Gerri Colombe has shown throughout the 25/26 Jumps Season that he’s a tremendous horse.

The campaign did start disappointingly however, as he was pulled up in the Grade 1 Savills Chase at Leopardstown. This was his first run in over a year after a stifle injury derailed his career. Therefore, shaking off the rust is to be expected and we shouldn’t read too much into his performance that day.

Following that outing in December though, we saw three straight good runs. At Gowran Park in January, he finished third in the Grade 2 John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle on Heavy ground. We saw little extra coming home but it was an improved outing and showed there were some signs that the form we had seen a couple of years ago was back.

Gerri Colombe went one better in the Bobbyjo - a race that has in recent years provided a good indicator towards Grand National success. Second to Grangeclare West as an 8/1 shot, he led upto the last before the winner pulled away late.

With each race his form was getting better and then he beat 2025 Grand National winner Nick Rockett last time out in a small field at Down Royal. There is a lot to like about Gerri Colombe and it wasn’t all that long ago that he gave Galopin Des Champs a real race in the 2024 Cheltenham Gold Cup and would follow that up with victory in the Grade 1 Bowl Chase at the Aintree Grand National Festival.

That year away with injury came at the wrong time but he’s got every chance to perform at the highest level once again and his odds look too big to me.
