Lucky 15

Friday's racing comes from Fontwell, Musselburgh and Wexford (jumps), while there's all-weather flat action courtesy of  Lingfield and Dundalk.

You know by now my affection for Polytrack - any of the artificial surfaces in fact - so it's to Leafy Lingfield we'll go for our Lucky 15 tips, Friday April 5. Rossa, Hollie, Oisin - we're spoilt rotten once again, but we're so worth it.

Lucky 15 tips Friday

  • 14:30 Lingfield - Get Jiggy With It @ 13/8
  • 15:00 Lingfield - Purefoy @ 2/1
  • 16:05 Lingfield - Arthur's Realm @ 2/1
  • 16:40 Lingfield - Moorgate @ 11/2

14:30 Lingfield - Get Jiggy With It @ 13/8

Top jockey Jim Crowley has been booked to ride this three-year-old Highland Reel filly, for trainer Charlie Hills.

Four runs at two - three crackers, and then a disappointment in September at Goodwood, when last seen, on soft ground. That was a pretty hot EBF contest and she'd previously performed with great credit at major venues Newmarket, Goodwood, and Epsom.

7f around Lingfield should be a stroll in comparison, degree-of-difficulty-wise, and I'm hopeful that she can break her maiden. Jim's engagement I see as a big plus.

15:00 Lingfield - Purefoy @ 2/1

Another three-year-old, Purefoy, in the care of Andrew Balding and ridden by Oisin Murphy.

This is a 7f Class 5 handicap, and the horse reappears after three runs at two, showing progressive form. The Ulysses gelding ran well here in October when last seen, finishing a close second over a mile. The trainer's in great nick (21% strike-rate over the last fortnight), and Murphy has few peers.

Starts life in handicaps off 75, and let's hope that's a workable mark for his top connections.

16:05 Lingfield - Arthur's Realm @ 2/1

Rossa Ryan very nearly won the Spring Mile at Donny on this one 13 days ago (beaten 0.75l), and though this is a different surface, and test, the horse has got plenty of all-weather experience.

That was a Class 2, and he slips down to a 4 today. Ed Dunlop trains this six-year-old Camelot gelding and he looks well-handicapped to me, up just two pounds for Doncaster to a mark of 84. He was rated as highly as 90 just a year ago.

Ryan is an excellent booking and has enjoyed plenty of previous success for the Newmarket handler.

16:40 Lingfield - Moorgate @ 11/2

6f sprinters now, and an old hand trained by Pat Murphy in Berkshire. John Egan rides.

29 days ago over course-and-distance Moorgate failed by less than a length, running-on nicely. The five-year-old Mastercraftsman gelding won here off 46 in November, and operates off 48 today.

He's a genuine, low-level, consistent type that could well be close to another winning performance. He's an absolute credit to connections.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £217 for your total £7.50 stake.
