The previous Ligue 1 Best Bets column two weekends ago threw up two winners, but this time we're aiming for one better from the three fixtures chosen.

There's a tasty looking 17/2 in Nice vs Reims that has won in five of the last six meetings between the sides, with games between Metz and Brest and Lorient and Marseille completing the column.

Weekend Ligue 1 Betting Tips - December 9/10, 2023

  • Nice vs Reims - 0-0 correct score @ 17/2
  • Brest to beat Metz @ 5/4
  • Lorient or draw in Lorient vs Marseille @ EVS

Nice vs Reims (Sunday, 12:00)

The early game on Sunday sees Will Still's Reims travel to the Allianz Arena to face a Nice side fresh off the back of a first defeat of the season.

A remarkable defensive record has been the key to Nice's impressive start in Ligue 1, with Francesco Farioli's charges conceding just five times in 14 games. Only three of those 14 have seen both teams score, and there have been only eight goals in seven matches at the Allianz (seven for Nice, one against).

There have already been three goalless draws there this season, and why not back a fourth in a fixture between two sides who have played out plenty of 0-0's in recent seasons.

In fact, that has been the scoreline in five of the last six meetings between Nice and Reims, a simply staggering statistic.

Still's side are yet to record a bore draw this season but they're probably due one after having six last season, two of them against Reims - shock.

Metz vs Brest (Sunday, 14:00)

Next up is a clash at the Stade Saint-Symphorien, where Metz have struggled this season. Only Clermont (four) and Lyon (three) have picked up fewer points at home in Ligue 1 than Metz (six), whose only win at their own stadium came against Nantes last month.

Brest, meanwhile, travel pretty well, with only PSG (17), Nice (14) and Reims (11) accruing more points on the road than Les Pirates (10). They won their last away game 3-1 at Montpellier and have also beaten Reims and Le Havre away from home.

There are currently four places between these sides in the table, with a three-game unbeaten run for Brest putting them six points ahead of their hosts on the weekend.

The four clubs Brest have failed to beat away from home - Monaco, Marseille, Lille and Nice - sit first, second, fourth and fifth in the Ligue 1 home table, so their difficulties have been in overcoming the bigger teams.

Lorient vs Marseille (Sunday, 19:45)

Marseille are motoring along nicely after three consecutive victories - two in the league - but they're still yet to show that they can be fully trusted away from the Stade Velodrome.

The French giants are second only to Monaco in the Ligue 1 home table but a paltry three points from seven away games has them rock-bottom of the away table. They're still yet to win on their travels, and could only manage a draw at a struggling Strasbourg side last time out. Prior to that, they had suffered three straight defeats on the road.

Lorient, meanwhile, have been solid at home. They lost 3-2 to Metz last time out at the Stade du Moustoir, but that's one of just home two defeats for them this season. Les Merlus have beaten Lille (4-1) and Rennes (2-1) at home and drawn to Monaco (2-2), so they have already proven themselves against some of the bigger sides in Ligue 1.
