PSG vs Montpellier Prediction: Goals expected at Parc des Princes

After an away victory on matchday one, PSG will play their first home game of the season against Montpellier on Friday night (20:00, TNT Sports). With Kylian Mbappe now out the door, it feels like a new era for PSG, as they target their fourth-consecutive league title.
Meanwhile Montpellier will look to build on their 12th-place finish last term, and they may fancy their chances of causing a shock in the capital. Below you can find my PSG vs Montpellier prediction.
Team News
Luis Enrique will be using these early games to figure out his best XI, in the absence of the superstars that have ruled the roost in Paris for the past decade. There’s no Neymar, Lionel Messi or Mbappe, so a new forward line is needed, and it looks like it will be led by Gonçalo Ramos. Randall Kolo-Muani and Ousmane Dembele are also ready to step up while Warren Zaïre-Emery is the emerging midfield star.
Montpellier drew their first game 1-1, with Teji Savanier getting the goal from the penalty spot. Michel Der Zakarian is back in charge of the club and will target a top-half finish this term, but we can expect them to go more defensive in Paris. Swiss international Bećir Omeragić will start at the back along with Modibo Sagnan as they look to keep PSG at bay.
PSG vs Montpellier Odds
PSG are the big favourites to win this one, priced at 3/10 to get the points, while Montpellier can be backed at 8/1 and a draw is 9/2. If you fancy goals, over 2.5 is 4/11 and BTTS is 8/13.
PSG to win and BTTS @ 11/8
Now I think we can add some extra value to the obvious PSG win here by backing BTTS. PSG’s defence looked incredibly inexperienced in their 4-1 win over Le Havre, and although Marquinhos should return to the heart of it, and Achraf Hakimi will play at right-back, I’m not completely convinced by them.
Lucas Beraldo and Willian Pacho are both promising young centre-backs, and are likely to get plenty of chances this season, but they still have a lot to prove. Meanwhile, Montpellier managed five shots on target in their opener, and I think they should be able to find the net at the Parc des Princes.
Lee Kang-in to score anytime @ 23/10
Dembele started on the bench in the opening game, and although he will be pushing for a starting spot, I think Lee Kang-in did enough to earn himself another start against Montpellier. He played on the right and the 23-year-old South Korean looked incredibly bright, scoring just three minutes into the new campaign.
He is set to have a breakthrough season in my eyes, and I think he will enjoy himself again on home soil. I also think he offers the best value out of PSG’s attackers for an anytime goalscorer, and he clearly has been working on his finishing over the summer.
