Everton vs Wolves Prediction: Cards out for the Colombians

Four points from their last two games have offered Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters faint hope in their battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season. Next up for the Old Gold is a trip to Hill Dickinson Stadium on Wednesday (19:30 GMT, Sky Sports F1), where they take on an Everton side looking to bounce back after a disappointing 4-2 defeat there to Brentford last Sunday.
Below are my Everton vs Wolves predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds.
Everton vs Wolves Betting Tips
- Player to Receive a Card - Yerson Mosquera (WOL) @ 2/1
- Player to Receive a Card - Jhon Arias (WOL) @ 18/5

Team News
Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye remain on international duty with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Seamus Coleman and Jarrad Branthwaite all miss out for Everton with hamstring injuries.
Carlos Alcaraz (unspecified) could miss a third consecutive game for David Moyes' side, too.
As for Wolves, head coach Rob Edwards will be desperate to name an unchanged starting XI following Saturday's 3-0 victory over West Ham United at Molineux. However, Hwang Hee-chan and Joao Gomes are both doubtful with a calf and groin injury, respectively.
Should Hwang fail a fitness test, expect last season's top goalscorer, Jorgen Strand Larsen, to join Tolu Arokodare in attack, while Andre is an obvious replacement for Joao Gomes in the middle of midfield.
Emmanuel Agbadou is still unavailable as he is at the Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast, while Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Toti Gomes (both hamstring), Rodrigo Gomes (groin), Marshall Munetsi (calf), Leon Chiwome (knee) and Dan Bentley (ankle) are sidelined with injuries.
Everton vs Wolves Predicted Lineups
- Everton: Pickford; O'Brien, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Iroegbunam, Garner; McNeil, Rohl, Grealish; Barry
- Wolves: Sa; Mosquera, S. Bueno, Krejci; Tchatchoua, Arias, Andre, Mane, H. Bueno; Arokodare, Strand Larsen
Everton won August's reverse fixture 3-2 at Molineux, although they were beaten 2-0 at the same stadium in the Carabao Cup the following month.
The Toffees are 4/5 favourites to return to winning ways on Wednesday, implying a 55.6% probability of success, while Wolves are 4/1, or a 20% chance, to secure their first away victory of the season, with the draw offered at 13/5.
Thierno Barry 1+ Shot on Target, Jack Grealish 1+ Shot on Target, Arokodare 1+ Shot on Target & Mateus Mane 1+ Shot on Target has been boosted to 7/1 (was 11/2).
Everton vs Wolves Stats
- Mosquera (WOL) has received five yellows in 11 PL apps (nine starts) this season
- Arias (WOL) has committed nine fouls across his last three matches (two starts)
- Grealish (EVE) is averaging 2.7 fouls won p/g in 25/26 PL
Player to Receive a Card - Yerson Mosquera (WOL) @ 2/1
Not the chunkiest of prices for a player card bet here, but I can understand why, and 2/1 still doesn't put me off backing Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera to receive a card on Wednesday.
The Colombian has been colossal for the Old Gold in the last couple of games, recording seven and four tackles, respectively, against Manchester United and West Ham, helping his side to a clean sheet against the latter.
Mosquera has committed a foul in each of those matches, though, taking his season average in the Premier League to 1.2 per game.
The 24-year-old was booked twice in five Premier League appearances last season, and after just 11 competition outings this term, nine as a starter, he has received five yellow cards.
Remarkably, they all came consecutively as he was cautioned against Fulham, Aston, Villa, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and Arsenal before serving a suspension for an accumulation of yellows in his side's 2-0 defeat to Brentford on December 20.
He returned to start the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on December 27 and has kept his place in the side since, avoiding a booking in all three games post-Christmas, but his patience will be severely tested on Wednesday up against Everton winger Jack Grealish, who is averaging 2.7 fouls won per game in this season's Premier League.
The Manchester City loanee has been fouled 49 times across 18 Premier League appearances in 2025/26, with only Elche's Aleix Febas (59), Lazio's Mattia Zaccagni (58) and Cagliari's Marco Palestra (51) suffering more fouls across Europe's top five leagues.
A whole host of right-sided defenders have been booked for upending the Englishman this term, with Brentford right-back Michael Kayode the latest to receive a card for taking him down last Sunday.
Grealish was fouled seven times in August's reverse fixture at Molineux, and Santiago Bueno, playing on the right of a back three that day, was responsible for one of those fouls. The Uruguayan committed three fouls in total during that victory for Everton, but like the rest of his teammates, he avoided going into the book.
He wasn't quite so lucky the following month as he was shown a yellow for taking down Grealish in the 71st minute of the Old Gold's Carabao Cup win against the Toffees. Despite only coming on in the 59th minute, Grealish was fouled five times.
It's Mosquera who is set to start on the right-hand side of a back three this time around, though, with Bueno in the middle, so I'll back the former for a card here.

Player to Receive a Card - Jhon Arias (WOL) @ 18/5
Sticking with the same market, the same club and the same nation, I'm backing Jhon Arias to also receive a card at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
After a difficult start to life in the Premier League, Arias has recently started to show the qualities that prompted Wolves to bring him from Brazilian club Fluminense last summer.
The 28-year-old has been moved back to a midfield position for the last couple of games, which has seen him get stuck in, throwing his weight around.
Arias committed three fouls and recorded six tackles against Man United before making four fouls and three tackles against West Ham last Saturday.
Despite seven of his 19 Premier League appearances this season coming as a substitute, the Colombian is averaging a foul per game, registering nine across his last three matches, despite only coming on in the 79th minute against Liverpool (two fouls).
He's only picked up one yellow since making the move to England, but he received six in 27 Serie A games for Fluminense last year, and was booked three times in 17 World Cup qualifiers (15 starts) for Colombia during their latest qualification campaign.
Like Mosquera, Arias is likely to come into contact often with Grealish on Wednesday, and while they only shared the pitch for 22 minutes in September's Carabao Cup clash, the Wolves man still committed an offence against the Everton star.
Furthermore, the Old Gold's right-sided midfielder that day, Munetsi, conceded a couple of free-kicks for upending the Man City loanee.
If you fancy the Mosquera-Arias card double, you can back it here at 14/1.
