USA take on Australia on Friday night (8pm BST, Thursday 12pm local, live on BBC One) live from Seattle Stadium as both sides seek to gain control of Group D.

Both teams will be buoyed by their opening-day victories, as the USA hammered Paraguay 4-1, and Australia stunned Turkey 2-0. I’ve picked out a 41/1 four-fold for my USA vs Australia Bet Builder tips, which you can find below.

USA vs Australia Odds

USA to win

I'm going to start this Bet Builder off by siding with the host nation. They were impressive against Paraguay, and have the crowd and momentum on their side heading into Friday's contest.

In addition, USA have won the last two meetings with Australia, and playing in front of a sold-crowd crowd in Seattle isn't something to be dismissed lightly.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men were 3-0 up at half-time against Paraguay and in complete control. I suspect we could see something similar against the Socceroos.

Folarin Balogun to score (Sub Switch)

Folarin Balogun couldn’t have asked for a better start to his World Cup campaign after he netted a brace in the USA’s win over Paraguay.

The Monaco marksman looked a real handful in the opening game – his movement and directness caused the Paraguay back-four all sorts of problems, and I suspect the Aussies will face a similar test on Friday.

The 24-year-old has scored four times across his last six appearances for club and country and looks a cracking bet to net once again here.

Malik Tillman to have 2+ shots (Sub Switch)

Malik Tillman was heavily involved in the USA’s attacking output, recording five shots on the Paraguay goal, with two of those efforts being on target.

If he takes up similar positions to the ones he did in Saturday’s opener, then he should be able to get off plenty of efforts on the opposition goal.

The 24-year-old averaged 1.82 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga this season, and similarly 1.35 shots per 90 in the Champions League.

At the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup, Tillman was in the thick of the action, scoring three and setting up two in six games, averaging 1.83 shots per 90 minutes. With all that considered, let’s back the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder to have a similar output to the match against Paraguay and record at least 2+ shots.

Harry Souttar to be carded (Sub Switch)

Harry Souttar was excellent in Australia’s opener against Turkey, and arguably the main reason the Socceroos kept a clean sheet.

The 27-year-old had the most of defensive contributions of both sides (17), making 13 clearances and wasn’t dribbled past once.

However, those stats could also be interpreted as Souttar being the last line of defence and cleaning up any mistakes Australia make defensively.

The Leicester City defender will also be coming up a striker bang in-form in Balogun, and may also have his hands full trying to contain the likes of Christian Pulisic, Giovanni Reyna and Tillman.
