Kylian Mbappe to score (Sub Switch)
I do not know who is going to win this game and progress to the World Cup final. I think it is a pretty impossible task to predict who wins in Dallas, and so I will avoid that in this Bet Builder. Spain have looked pretty imperious in North America, while France have been the team of the tournament, so this is a semi-final meeting of giants.
I do think that there will be goals in this one and so I will back the man of the moment, Kylian Mbappe, to score again. He has eight goals, and looks on course to win another World Cup Golden Boot - unless Lionel Messi produces some more magic. He has scored in five of France’s six World Cup matches and should cause this Spain defence massive issues. He’s the man for the big occasion and I’ll back him to find the net again.
Lamine Yamal 2+ fouls won
Lamine Yamal made the 2024 Euros his own, but he hasn’t hit the heights expected of him at this tournament. That may seem harsh given he came into the World Cup with an injury and has helped his side reach the last four, but we know just how good he can be when he is at his best.
He looked far better against Belgium, as he had the most touches (12) in the opposition box and took the most shots (six), while he also won four fouls. That’s a high total which I think we can use to our advantage, as France are not going to be shy in making tackles, especially given that yellow cards are now wiped so players cannot be suspended for the final. Yamal should be able to draw a couple of fouls.
Adrien Rabiot to be booked (Sub Switch)
Along the same lines, but I’ll back France’s Adrien Rabiot to get booked at some stage. He made two fouls against Morocco and I expect him to be busy again in the middle of the park against the likes of Pedri and Rodri.
The AC Milan midfielder is yet to be booked at this World Cup but that means we are getting great value on him to pick up a yellow. I think France are going to be fairly robust in this semi-final, and so Rabiot marks a good pick to be booked.
If he comes off at any stage, this selection rolls onto his replacement, which could also work in our favour.
Desire Doue 1+ shot on target (Sub Switch)
On the hunt for more value, I’m finished by adding PSG’s Desire Doue to get 1+ shot on target. He has made that left wing spot his own, and was excellent against Morocco, landing two shots on target and having another effort blocked.
With the other forwards creating plenty of room, Doue isn’t shy at getting his shots away, so I believe he is great value to test Unai Simon in the Spain goal. That brings our Bet Builder to 13/1.
