Two sides who won their respective opening games in Group A will lock horns at Guadalajara Stadium on Friday (2am GMT, 7pm Thursday local, live on BBC One), as Mexico host South Korea.

El Tricolor opened their campaign with a convincing 2-0 win over South Africa, while South Korea came from behind to defeat Czech Republic 2-1. Ahead of this showdown, I’ve picked out a 36/1 four-fold for my Mexico vs South Korea Bet Builder tips.

Mexico vs South Korea Odds

Match Result – draw

Both teams displayed their quality in their group openers and despite Mexico’s home advantage here, I find it difficult to split the sides.

I can’t see El Tricolor losing, especially on home soil, but backing them to win is a different story as South Korea are a difficult team to break down. In addition, Mexico have drawn more home matches against top teams than they’ve won in the last 12 months.

Raul Jimenez to score anytime (Sub Switch)

Mexico’s veteran striker, who’s recently taken his talents back to Wolverhampton Wanderers, scored his first-ever World Cup goal against South Africa, and I’m backing him to make it two goals in as many games here.

The 35-year-old has scored four times in his last five outings for his country, and with him being Mexico’s most experienced striker, he’s the natural first choice to provide a goal threat.

Heung-min Son to have 3+ shots (Sub Switch)

Heung-min Son did his very best to score in South Korea’s win over Czech Republic, with the Los Angeles FC forward recording six shots.

Therefore, he looks a tempting pick to record another 3+ here. Granted, the former Spurs star may not have as much space to manoeuvre in, but his movement remains excellent, and I expect the 33-year-old to carve out some opportunities for himself here.

In 13 MLS matches this term, Son has recorded 40 shots, with nine of those on target, suggesting that if he can let one fly, he will.

Under 2.5 total goals

Both teams displayed defensive solidarity in their opening matches, with Mexico keeping a clean sheet, and South Korea, despite conceding, held Czech Republic to one goal.

A tight, cagey affair between two well-organised sides with so much at stake in terms of group positioning lends itself to a low-scoring game for me.
