Plymouth vs Liverpool Odds

Both Teams to Score - Yes

As mentioned in my prediction piece on this game, Plymouth have scored in three of their five matches under new head coach Miron Muslic, including their last two against Sunderland (2-2) and West Bromwich Albion (2-1).

The Pilgrims found a way past another Premier League outfit, Brentford, in the previous round, winning 1-0 thanks to an 82nd-minute strike from Morgan Whittaker, who has since departed for Middlesbrough.

Liverpool are an entirely different beast to Brentford as they sit six points clear at the top of the Premier League, but they were posed one or two problems by Accrington Stanley in the third round, despite dispensing with the League 2 strugglers 4-0 at Anfield.

This time around, they make the long trip down to Devon, most likely without the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Ryan Gravenberch, who are set to stay on Merseyside in preparation for Wednesday's derby with Everton at Goodison Park.

As a result, Plymouth may fancy their chances of unsettling a changed-up Reds side, and can get on the scoresheet at Home Park.

Diogo Jota (LIV) First Goalscorer

Diogo Jota made his first appearance since January 14 in Thursday's Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg victory over Tottenham Hotspur (4-0), coming off the bench for the final 20 minutes. The Portuguese attacker had scored in back-to-back games against Accrington Stanley and Nottingham Forest in the first half of January but spent four games out injured before returning as an unused substitute in the 2-0 win at AFC Bournemouth on February 1.

With Salah and potentially Cody Gakpo left at home, and Darwin Nunez likely to be on the bench, Jota is set to start at Home Park as Liverpool's centre-forward, and he's their most obvious goal-getter.

The 28-year-old has scored eight times in 20 appearances (11 starts) for his club side this season and has 10 goals in his last 20 domestic cup outings for the Reds.

Jota opened the scoring against Accrington in the third round and I'm backing him to repeat that feat on Sunday.

Harvey Elliott (LIV) Anytime Goalscorer

Like Jota, Harvey Elliott was introduced in the latter stages of Thursday's win against Spurs and looks nailed-on to start at Home Park this weekend.

The 21-year-old has found minutes hard to come by in the Premier League and is yet to score in the top flight this season but he's found joy in the cup competitions, scoring in back-to-back Champions League appearances against Lille and PSV Eindhoven, and he found the net in Liverpool's Carabao Cup quarter-final win at Southampton (1-2) on December 18, meaning he has struck in two of his last three starts.

Elliott failed to get on the scoresheet against Accrington but did force a save from Stanley's goalkeeper in the first half and also sent a shot wide in the second.

He should play most, if not all, of Sunday's game, and that marks him out as a serious candidate to grab a goal.

Wataru Endo (LIV) Carded

Finally, I'm backing Liverpool's utility man, Wataru Endo, to receive a card against Plymouth.

The Japan captain has featured much less than he did in his first season as a Red when he established himself as a starter in Jurgen Klopp's midfield that was fighting on all fronts until the latter stages of the campaign.

Under Slot, Endo has only been utilised toward the end of big games in the Premier League and Champions League, or as a makeshift centre-back in the domestic cup competitions, where he could be deployed again on Sunday.

Wherever he plays, the 31-year-old is a card risk. He's only been booked once this season, away at Brighton & Hove Albion (2-3) in the Carabao Cup on October 30, but he's averaging a foul per game in that competition and 0.7 per game in the Premier League, despite averaging just 11 minutes per match in the English top flight.

Last season, Endo was yellow-carded 10 times in 29 league appearances, and if a visiting player is cautioned at Home Park, I'd expect it to be Endo, who can fly in late to challenges.
