Nantes vs PSG Prediction: Visitors’ winning streak to continue

Paris Saint-Germain may have already wrapped up the Ligue 1 title, but they are still fighting for an invincible season as they head to Nantes on Tuesday (19:45). This match was rearranged to give the visitors more time to prepare for their Uefa Champions League semi-final tie with Aston Villa.

Nantes weren't happy and they now come into this clash off the back of a defeat to Rennes. Les Parisiens come into this clash off the back of a 10-game winning streak in Ligue 1. Read on for my Nantes vs PSG predictions, alongside the latest team news and match odds.

Nantes will be without the services of Marcus Coco on Tuesday following the suspension he picked up in the defeat on Friday.

The hosts are also likely to be missing Fabien Centonze, who has been absent for the majority of the campaign for reasons unspecified. The same goes for goalkeeper Alban Lafont, while Francis Coquelin (hamstring), Adel Mahamoud (knee) and Sekou Doucoure (shoulder) are all confined to the treatment room.

Shot-stopper Anthony Lopes and Welsh international Sorba Thomas were forced off with injuries at the weekend, so third-choice 'keeper Patrick Carlgren is primed to make his sixth start for La Maison Jaune.

With the league title wrapped up, Luis Enrique's attention looks to be fixated on the Champions League as they gear up to face Arsenal in the semi-finals. Ousmane Dembele was left out of the squad entirely against Le Havre on Saturday, while key midfielders Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz and Joao Neves were dropped down to the bench.

This gave Senny Mayulu an opportunity to come in for a start, along with 17-year-old Ibrahim Mbaye, who was given a chance to impress at the weekend. Matvei Safonov replaces Gianluigi Donnarumma between the sticks, while Marquinhos and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were also taken out of the XI.

Luis Enrique may recall some stars here so that they are match-fresh ahead of their UCL tie with Arsenal, which does not bode well for Nantes, who are three points above the bottom three.

Given PSG are unbeaten in the league, the 6/1 price for Nantes to win seems quite low. If you think the struggling hosts can battle hard for a point, the stalemate is available at 9/2.

PSG are 4/11 to collect the three points, which they have managed on their previous seven away trips in Ligue 1. Their previous three has featured BTTS (both teams to score) and this can be added to the selection at 7/5, which has an implied probability of 41.7%.

In terms of the league, PSG are on the beach, but of course there is still an unbeaten campaign to fight for. As much as their focus is on the Champions League, the prize this club desperately craves, they won't get complacent in Ligue 1.

Even with rotation, PSG are showing their quality in depth as their fringe stars have more than enough to keep their winning streak going. The final weeks will also give such players more chances to play, which they will be motivated for as they will try to push their way into Luis Enrique's thinking for the UCL and next season.

I fancy PSG to rack up an 11th consecutive league victory at Nantes, but I do think the hosts will get in on the action. Seven of Les Rouge-et-Bleu's past nine away trips in the top flight has seen them win with both teams finding the net.

BTTS has also been a successful bet in 10 of their previous 11 encounters in the top flight (home and away). PSG are far and away the best team in the division, so this should be a routine victory for them, especially if the likes of Dembele and Kvaratskhelia return to the fold.

If those stars were to come back into the team on Tuesday, I think we will see Les Parisiens rack up several goals inside Stade de la Beaujoire. PSG have been devastating in front of goal this season as they have scored 82 goals across 29 matches - which means they are averaging just shy of three per game.

The visitors have been clinical on their travels in recent weeks with 19 scored in their past five outings. In four of them, they managed to find the net on at least three occasions, so I think we will see them hit this threshold on Tuesday.
