Ligue 1 presents an intriguing clash for us this weekend as Monaco host Marseille at 8pm on Saturday night. We’ve taken a look at the form to try and pick out a winner.

Monaco vs Marseille Tips:

  • Monaco to beat Marseille at 6/5
  • Ben Yedder to score anytime at 11/10

Monaco to beat Marseille at 6/5

There’s not a whole lot to choose between these two sides but importantly, Monaco have had over a week off since their 1-0 loss to Nice. That Friday night defeat was their first of the season, and manager Adi Hutter has had over a week to put things right. Meanwhile, Marseille played on Sunday and were handed a lesson by PSG, given the runaround by the best side in the league in a 4-0 defeat.

That is likely to have dented the confidence of Gennaro Gattuso’s outfit who are yet to win in September across all competitions. They only managed a 0-0 draw with ten-man Nantes in their last Ligue 1 away game and it seems as though, despite a host of talented attackers, they are yet to click this term.

Meanwhile, the 1-0 defeat to Nice was the first time that Monaco have failed to score this season having been in excellent goalscoring form prior to that match. They’ve scored a league-high total of 15 goals in their six matches so far (one more than PSG), and are capable of turning it on against any side in the division. They should enjoy a fruitful evening against Marseille.

Ben Yedder to score anytime at 11/10

Kylian Mbappe obviously leads the way in Ligue 1’s scoring charts, but with Monaco proving they are so dangerous going forward this season, I’m more than happy to back their own key man to find the net. Wissam Ben Yedder has scored four times this term, and despite the signing of Florian Balogun for big money, he has held on to the number nine spot.

He’s lethal in front of goal, and the nominated penalty taker which makes anything over EVS for him to score anytime worth adding to your selections in my opinion. Ben Yedder has proved he is a reliable goalscorer at this level with 19 goals to his name last term, and he can find the net again this weekend against a leaky Marseille defence.
