Monaco vs Lille

Monaco host Lille at Stade Louis II in Ligue 1 on Wednesday evening (20:00) in what is a huge battle in the race for Champions League football. Monaco are second with 55 points, having beaten third-placed Brest 2-1 at the weekend. Lille are currently fourth on 52 points and a victory for them would see them leapfrog the hosts.

Both teams are in excellent form heading into this with three consecutive wins, meaning we could be in for a cracking game on TNT Sports 2. Given how well both sides have been playing of late, it is a tough one to call but I've had a go at calling the outcome. Below I have detailed my Monaco vs Lille predictions.

Monaco vs Lille Betting Tips

  • Draw and both teams to score - Yes @ 3/1
  • #PickYourPunt - Jonathan David and Maghnes Akliouche to score anytime @ 7/1

Match Odds

Monaco are 5/4 to grab a valuable three points on Wednesday, giving them a 44.4% chance of victory. Lille are priced at 21/10 which gives them a 32.3% chance. The draw is on offer at 5/2 (28.6%).

Both teams to score is marketed at 8/15, which has landed in Lille's last four matches in Ligue 1. BTTS has also delivered in 59% (17/29) of Monaco's matches this season in the league. Over 2.5 goals is 4/6.

Lille forward Jonathan David has netted 17 goals in Ligue 1 this term and is 9/2 to open the scoring on Wednesday.

Team News

Monaco duo Eliesse Ben Seghir and Wilfried Singo will be unavailable for selection due to the red cards they picked up in injury time against Brest last time out. The hosts are also without Aleksandr Golovin, Ismail Jakobs and Caio Henrique due to injury.

Lille are missing Samuel Umtiti and Andrej Ilic, with both players in the treatment room.

Draw and both teams to score - Yes @ 3/1

With both teams having won three games on the spin, it shows their focus on their respective pushes to secure Champions League football for next season. Monaco may be at home but Lille will feel as though they will have a psychological advantage on Wednesday night, having won the reverse fixture 2-0 back in October.

Monaco have improved since then, as have Lille, and due to how well they're both playing right now, I reckon that they will cancel each other out. That doesn't mean I'm expecting a dull tactical 0-0, I'm fancying a few goals in this one because both squads are blessed with talented attackers who can make things happen in such a crunch fixture.

Draw and both teams to score at 3/1 #PickYourPunt - Jonathan David and Maghnes Akliouche to score anytime @ 7/1

Two players who can play a huge role in this match are Lille's David and Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche. As mentioned above, David has scored 17 goals in Ligue 1 this term and only Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe has scored more with a total of 24.

The Canadian international is continuing to develop as a player and another fine campaign in France will have seen him catch the eye of some of Europe's most prestigious clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

He will want to finish the season strongly, and reaching 20 goals for the campaign will see his stock rise further. So I'm backing him to score for the third successive match on Wednesday evening.

Monaco attacker Akliouche has scored in his previous two home encounters in the league and has been evolving as an attacking threat throughout the year. He also heads into this game with confidence and I am also fancying him to continue a scoring trend of his own on home soil.
