Marseille vs Nice

There's a Derby de la Cote d'Azur to look forward to this midweek as Nice travel west to take on Marseille on Wednesday.

Below you can find my Marseille vs Nice prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Marseille vs Nice Prediction

  • Draw @ 23/10
  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang anytime goalscorer @ 7/5

Consistency has been an issue for both in 2023-24. Marseille sit ninth after failing to win any of their last four Ligue 1 games, but could still qualify for next season's Champions League after making it through to the semi-finals of the Europa League, where they will face Atalanta.

Meanwhile, Nice's 13-game unbeaten run at the start of the season suggested Les Aiglons could rival Paris Saint-Germain for the title, but they have subsequently struggled to string results together.

Francesco Farioli's side won 3-0 at home to Lorient on Friday and, having beaten Lens 3-1 and drawn 0-0 at Reims in their last two away games, could be coming good again at the right time to seal a European finish.

It might be too late for Marseille, who despite their usual chaos both on and off the field, have lost just once at home in the league. However, they generally lack sharpness in attack and could suffer more frustration on Wednesday.

Team News

Marseille's Samuel Gigot is available again after serving a suspension but Jonathan Clauss, Ismaila Sarr, Chancel Mbemba and Vincent Rongier are among Les Phoceens' absentees.

Nice forward Sofiane Diop has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his foot. Valentin Rosier will also miss Wednesday's match with a thigh injury but could recover in time to play again before the end of the campaign.

Match Odds

Marseille are 6/5 - or a 45.5% chance - to win on Wednesday and may fancy themselves, with eight of their 10 Ligue 1 wins coming at the Velodrome.

The draw is 23/10, while Nice are 12/5 to do the double over their rivals. They won the reverse match 1-0, with a repeat of that scoreline in their favour available at 9/1.

Draw @ 23/10

Nice's strong start to the season was based on cancelling sides out and they still have the best defensive record in the division, with just 22 goals conceded.

Les Aiglons have kept clean sheets in their last two matches, but before that they had conceded in eight out of their nine games in all competitions.

Marseille are hardly prolific, averaging 1.7 goals at home, but they do not lack attacking effort. They had 22 shots in their defeat to PSG and 19 against Benfica when they sneaked a 1-0 win before triumphing on penalties to progress into the last four of the Europa League.

It could be another frustrating evening for Jean-Louis Gasset's team and the 11/2 available for a 1-1 draw is an appealing price for those seeking a correct-score option.

Draw at 23-10

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang anytime goalscorer @ 7/5

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is one player that has failed to reach his true potential but he looks at home in Marseille and has scored 24 goals for the club since signing from Chelsea last July.

He may have failed to net in his team's last two home games against PSG and Benfica, but he scored seven times in his four Velodrome outings before that and looks a nice price to add to his tally.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score anytime at 7-5
