There is a big clash in the race for Europe coming our way on Friday night (20:00) in Ligue 1 as Lille welcome Marseille to Stade Pierre-Mauroy live on TNT Sports 2. The hosts beat rivals Lens last time out which will provide them a huge boost in their quest to finish inside the top three.

Marseille have suffered two losses in a row which has hampered their own push for Europe. They sit seventh in the table, four points behind Nice in fifth, so their form needs to turn around quickly. Here are our Lille vs Marseille predictions, featuring team news and match odds.

Lille vs Marseille Betting Tips

  • Lille and both teams to score @ 16/5
  • Jonathan David to score anytime @ 8/5

Match Odds

Lille are 5/4 to claim the victory (44.4%) chance, while Marseille are 9/4 (30.8% chance) to take the three points for themselves and end their losing streak before it becomes a rut. The draw can be backed at 23/10 (30.3% chance).

Both teams to score is valued at 8/11 and over 2.5 goals is 10/11. Lille's Edon Zhegrova secured his side the bragging rights in the derby with a brace last week and got them back to winning ways in their quest for a top-three finish. He is marketed at 11/5 to score anytime against Marseille.

Team News

Samuel Umtiti, Rafael Fernandes, Andrej Ilic and Tiago Morais are all sidelined through injury and will be unavailable for Lille once again this weekend.

Marseille have some injury problems of their own. Ismaila Sarr, Jonathan Clauss, Bamo Meite, Amir Murillo, Valentin Rongier and Jean Onana are all set to miss the trip to Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Friday evening.

Lille and both teams to score @ 16/5

After beating their bitter rivals Lens last time out to end a run of two draws, Lille will be high on confidence ahead of another clash at home where they welcome a Marseille side that has seen their momentum decimated with two consecutive defeats.

We think this sets the hosts up nicely to start putting a winning streak together as they look to close in on Monaco in third, who are just three points ahead of Lille. That being said, Marseille will be desperate to get back to winning ways as they look to get their own push for Europe back on track and they will bring some fight with them.

After all, they had won four on the bounce before the recent losses, and one of those defeats came against league leaders Paris Saint-Germain. That being said, we think momentum will be with Lille after prevailing in a local derby. One thing is for sure, we're expecting a better encounter between these two sides after their goalless draw back in November.

Jonathan David to score anytime @ 8/5

Canadian international Jonathan David has been in stunning form this campaign for the hosts. The forward has netted 15 goals in Ligue 1 so far and the only person who has scored more than him this year is the league's poster boy, Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe, who has netted 24 times.

While he will be happy that his side took the bragging rights against Lens last time out, David was unable to get on the scoresheet, which ended a run of three consecutive games in which he had scored.

This shouldn't knock his confidence too much as another match on home soil comes his way on Friday. With Marseille now having lost two games on the spin, there will be some level of doubt among the visiting defenders and that is far from ideal when they are about to come up against the second-highest scorer in the league, who will be eager to get back on the scoresheet.
