Lyon vs PSG Prediction: Tyler to try his luck against reigning champs

Reigning Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain head to Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday (18:45 GMT, Ligue 1 Pass) to take on hosts Olympique Lyonnais, who have lost all five meetings between the two teams since triumphing 1-0 at Parc des Princes in April 2023.
Below are my PSG vs Lyon predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Ernest Nuamah (ACL), Malick Fofana (ankle) and Orel Mangala (knee) are out injured for Lyon, who will also be without suspended full-backs Abner Vinicius and Hans Hateboer.
PSG, meanwhile, will have to make do without reigning Ballon d'Or holder Ousmane Dembele, who was withdrawn in the 25th minute of Tuesday's 2-1 Uefa Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich with a calf injury.
Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi also started in midweek, but have been ruled out of Sunday's match with a knee and ankle issue, respectively, joining Dembele and the already-injured Desire Doue (muscle) in Les Parisiens' treatment room.
Lyon vs PSG Predicted Lineups
- Lyon: Greif; Maitland-Niles, Mata, Niakhate, Tagliafico; Tessmann, Morton; Sulc, Tolisso, Moreira; Satriano
- PSG: Chevalier; Zaire-Emery, Zabarnyi, Pacho, Hernandez; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Barcola, Ramos, Kvaratskhelia
Lyon have only claimed one victory in Ligue 1 since the start of October (D2, L2), and Sunday's hosts are 16/5 underdogs to pick up all three points, implying a 23.8% probability of success, with PSG priced at 4/5 (55.6%) and the draw at 11/4.
Lyon vs PSG Stats
- Morton (LYO) has recorded 2+ shots in three of his last four Ligue 1 apps
- PSG have picked up the fewest yellows (13) in Ligue 1 this season (zero reds)
- LYO have received 18 yellows and three reds in 11 league games
Player to Have 2 or More Shots - Tyler Morton (LYO) @ 11/4
Lyon midfielder Tyler Morton has only scored once since joining from Liverpool in August, but it was a hugely important goal as he struck the winner in a 1-0 win at LOSC Lille on September 28.
The 23-year-old is averaging one shot per game in Ligue 1, recording at least two in three of his last four competition appearances.
Granted, PSG should represent several steps up in class from OGC Nice, Paris FC and Stade Brestois, against whom he registered three, two and two shots, respectively, but shorn of several starters, they aren't likely to be at their peak, and could be more vulnerable than usual on Sunday.
Six of Morton's nine shots in Ligue 1 this season have come from outside the penalty area, and he may pull the trigger a couple of times from long range this weekend.

Team With Most Booking Points - Lyon @ 13/10
PSG, one of three teams yet to be shown a red card in Ligue 1 this season, have picked up the fewest yellow cards (13), too.
Lyon, by contrast, have received three reds and 18 yellows in 11 games.
In last season's corresponding fixture, the two teams picked up a yellow apiece, but earlier in the campaign, in Paris, Lyon received three cautions to PSG's two.
Lyon have been awarded a red in their last two league matches, too.
