Lamine Yamal has only scored once at this World Cup, in Spain's second group game, a 4-0 thrashing of Saudi Arabia on 21 June, but we have to remember that he hadn't played for nearly two months before the tournament due to injury, only coming on as late substitute in La Roja's opening match, a goalless draw with Cape Verde on 15 June.

The Barcelona star, who struck 24 times in 45 club appearances last season, has seven goals in 32 senior caps for his country, and he has breached the defences of some big names in international football.

Yamal scored a stunning long-range goal against France in the semi-finals of Euro 2024, inspiring Spain to a 2-1 win en route to glory in Germany, and he bagged a brace against the same opposition in a 5-4 UEFA Nations League semi-final win in June 2025, a few months after netting in the same competition against the Netherlands.

The teenager, who only turned 19 on Monday, will now look to break a five-game goal drought against Argentina, who have looked suspect at the back in the knockout stages, shipping a couple of goals to Cape Verde and Egypt in the round of 32 and last 16, respectively.

La Albiceleste have conceded to a left winger in their last two games, against Switzerland's Dan Ndoye in the quarters, and against England's Anthony Gordon in the semis, so could it be the turn of a right winger on Sunday?

Despite his frustrations in front of goal, I've been impressed by Yamal's performances in North America, and he's remained a big attacking threat, registering eight shots on target across his four knockout outings so far; I think one will finally fall his way in the biggest game of all.

Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez was one of Argentina's heroes on Wednesday night, scoring their equaliser against England in the 85th minute before Lautaro Martinez nodded in the winner in stoppage time.

Fernandez has scored twice at this World Cup, with Wednesday's strike added to his last-16 winner against Egypt.

The 25-year-old has taken 12 shots in six games, averaging 1.9 shots per 90, and he's recorded 2+ efforts in four separate matches.

He tried his luck four times in midweek, and I think he's good for at least two on Sunday.

Argentina left back Nicolas Tagliafico has been fouled 13 times in six appearances, despite only making four starts.

The 33-year-old, who plays his club football for French giants Olympique Lyonnais, has been taken down seven times across Argentina's last two games (four vs Switzerland, three vs England).

Tagliafico is averaging 3.3 fouls won per 90 at this World Cup, while in Ligue 1 last season, he averaged 2.3 fouls per 90, so he's clearly a tricky opponent to deal with.

On Sunday, Tagliafico will be tasked with containing Yamal, but the Spaniard will have to work hard going the other way, too, given the Argentine's tenacity.
