Norway

Stale Solbakken will have been delighted with the performance of his side in the win over Brazil, but he could still make changes to his XI. He made a double substitution at half-time, taking off Alexander Sorloth and Antonio Nusa for Andreas Schjelderup and Oscar Bobb.

Schjelderup bagged two assists and has probably done enough to earn himself a start on the right, as it would be a major surprise to see Nusa miss out given England’s lack of strength in the right-back position. Some guy named Erling Haaland will play up front. Apparently he’s pretty good.

The Sander Berge, Patrick Berg, Martin Odegaard midfield trio ran rings against Brazil and will remain untouched, while right back Julian Ryerson came through an hour of action unscathed. Norway have had full back issues of their own at this tournament but it looks as though the Borussia Dortmund man will be fit to fill that role.

Brentford’s Kristoffer Ajer and Bologna’s Torbjorn Heggem make up a solid centre back partnership, while Wolves’ David Moller Wolfe has been strong at left back. Former Aston Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland has been in fantastic form and is tasked with stopping Harry Kane & Co.

England

England will be without Jarell Quansah for this one after his straight red card at the Azteca against Mexico, so once again the right back position is up for grabs. Djed Spence came off the bench in the 3-2 win to play at left wing back, so he could potentially switch sides to start, while Reece James is also racing to be fit but is unlikely to be thrown straight into the starting XI.

Jordan Henderson also saw his tournament come to a slightly embarrassing end as he failed to hop over an advertising board and broke his wrist. He managed to not play a single minute against Mexico but still got injured and picked up a yellow card. Some performance.

After a superb display from Anthony Gordon, and Bukayo Saka seemingly now fit, the wingers should stay the same, along with the match-winning duo of Jude Bellingham and Kane. Bellingham is just one yellow away from suspension, along with left back Nico O’Reilly, Declan Rice and Marc Guehi, who will all be walking a tightrope.

Guehi and Ezri Konsa look to have secured the centre back roles, although John Stones would relish a game against his former Manchester City teammate.

Norway vs England Key Players:

Key Player - Erling Haaland (Norway)

What more is there to say about Haaland? Seven goals at this World Cup has put him bang in the race for the Golden Boot, while he now has 62 international goals in 54 appearances. Bonkers. Two goals against Brazil showed his quality and it seems unlikely that England will be able to stop him from finding the net again.

Key Player - Jude Bellingham (England)

I don’t know if England have had a player quite like Bellingham this century. His poise on the ball, his energy, his physicality, his personality, have dragged the Three Lions through this World Cup, and two goals against Mexico were remarkable.

He is going to have to dominate Norway’s midfield if England are going to win this game. Another goal perhaps?
