Mexico

Mexico have no injury or suspension concerns, but head coach Javier Aguirre does have decisions to make. Gilberto Mora looks set to retain his place in midfield, with the 17-year-old playmaker keeping Brian Gutierrez out of the team.

Julian Quinones has been a key attacking weapon for Mexico, with the Al-Qadsiah man recording four goal involvements and the 29-year-old will provide a threat in wide areas.

Experienced forward Raul Jimenez has scored in two of his three 2026 World Cup appearances and the 35-year-old is ready to lead the Mexican line.

England

Thomas Tuchel has a number of headaches ahead of this Azteca tie and chief among those concerns is the right-back position.

Reece James is the preferred option at full-back, but the Chelsea man is struggling with injury, as is back-up Jarell Quansah.

Centre-back Ezri Konsa is an option to move across and there is also a chance that Declan Rice could drop into the position from midfield. However, Djed Spence was given the nod to start against DR Congo and the Spurs man looks set to retain his position.

Anthony Gordon and Bukayo Saka are pushing for starts in wide areas, with Marcus Rashford and Noni Madueke likely to make way.

Harry Kane has scored five goals at the 2026 World Cup and the 32-year-old will be key to any England success.

Mexico vs England Key Players:

Raul Jimenez (Mexico)

Mexico are yet to even concede a goal at the 2026 World Cup, but it's veteran striker Raul Jimenez who gives El Tri the outlet they need.

The 35-year-old scored in the victories over South Africa and Ecuador and the Wolves striker carries a major threat from set-plays.

Chances may be limited for Mexico when they meet England and the hosts will need Jimenez to convert any opportunities which come their way on home turf.

Harry Kane (England)

Harry Kane rescued England in their 2-1 victory over DR Congo and the Bayern Munich man will once again be key to the hopes of Thomas Tuchel's men.

Kane is the only England attacker who has carried a serious goal threat, with Anthony Gordon, Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Noni Madueke struggling to make an impact and any Three Lions success rests on the 32-year-old.

The former Spurs striker showed he only needs a glimmer of space to strike when hitting the winning goal against DR Congo and Kane will be key in a closely contested Azteca contest.
