The rescheduled FA Cup Fourth Round tie comes our way on Tuesday night as League 1 outfit Port Vale host Bristol City of the Championship at Vale Park (19:45 GMT).

The winner of this one will face Premier League outfit Sunderland on Sunday, and the prize money could certainly come in handy for the Valiants. Check out my Port Vale vs Bristol City predictions down below.

Team News

Port Vale are likely to name a strong team here, given survival from the third tier looks unlikely, despite a recent upturn in form. Jon Brady will likely name a 4-3-3 again, with Jayden Stockley, Ben Waine and Jordan Gabriel likely to make up the attacking trio.

Experienced forward Andre Gray is likely to have to settle for a role as an impact sub, along with midfielders Jordan Shipley and Grant Ward. Ben Garrity, George Byers and Ryan Croasdale remain out injured.

Bristol City boss Gerhard Struber has some serious issues at centre-back, with Rob Dickie and Rob Atkinson now likely to be ruled out for the rest of the season. That leaves Noah Eile as City's only fit, recognised centre-back, and Struber’s small squad now looks to be coming back to bite him.

"Right now, I am really disappointed with this game, and I think we have to clear our minds for the next two days… We know with Port Vale, it is also an opponent [for whom] this is maybe the game of the year for them. We have to be clear on Tuesday night to have an FA Cup mindset: do or die.”

Port Vale vs Bristol City Predicted Lineups

  • Port Vale - Gauci; John, Humphreys, Hall, Gordon; Ojo, Walter, Hall; Gabriel, Waine, Stockley
  • Bristol City - Lumley; Tanner, Eile, Pring; Sykes, Morsy, Randell, McCrorie; Burgzorg, Earthy, Armstrong

Port Vale vs Bristol City Odds

Port Vale are the 16/5 underdogs for this one, while Bristol City are the 4/5 favourites, giving them an implied win probability of 55%. A draw is 13/5, while over 2.5 goals is 1/1.

BTTS has been priced up at 5/6, while Emil Riis is the favourite to score first at 7/2.

Port Vale vs Bristol City Stats

  • Port Vale sit bottom of League 1 but are unbeaten in three
  • Bristol City have won eight of their past nine games against Port Vale
  • Delano Burgzorg has two bookings for Bristol City since joining in January

Price Boost - Bristol City to win and BTTS @ 3/1

Port Vale sit bottom of League 1, and although they are unbeaten in three and have improved under Brady, there is stil some gap in quality between themselves and Championship play-off hunters Bristol City.

Struber will look at his defence and be slightly concerned, having also lost at home to Watford on Friday night. I think the back three is there to be got at, especially if the Robins make a couple of changes in midfield - so I fancy Vale to nick a goal, but I do believe they will come up short over 90 minutes.

Delano Burgzorg, Sinclair Armstrong and George Earthy all started on the bench for that league defeat, and if that trio come in, they should deliver attacking thrust and enough goals to win the tie.

Delano Burgzorg to get booked @ 16/5

I have picked out a player to get booked at a massive price here, in the form of Bristol City winger Burgzorg. He should be given a start here, and since the turn of the year he has found himself in the referee’s notebook on multiple occasions.

The left winger has started just once since January 30, but in that time he has picked up two yellow cards - both in injury time for his new club. He was also booked in the Third Round for Middlesbrough having started and his petulance could cost him - especially if it turns into a frustrating evening for the Championship club.
