Newcastle vs Manchester City Prediction: Quarter-final spot beckons for City

Saturday night (20:00 GMT, live on TNT Sports 1) sees the fifth meeting this season between Newcastle United and Manchester City, in the fifth round of the FA Cup at St James' Park.

The Magpies have beaten City on their home turf already this term in the Premier League (2-1), although the visitors got the better of Newcastle here in their Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg tie. Team News

Jacob Ramsey will be suspended for the hosts after his red card against Manchester United, while Bruno Guimaraes, Fabian Schar, Emil Krafth and Lewis Miley will also miss out.

Nick Woltemade missed the midweek victory over United through illness and will be hoping to return to the matchday squad on Saturday.

As for City, Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic both remain long-term absentees, and Nico O'Reilly missed the midweek stalemate with Forest due to an ankle knock, so his availability remains unclear.

With a trip to Real Madrid in the Champions League on the horizon, Pep Guardiola could rotate his squad this weekend, with the likes of James Trafford, John Stones and Rico Lewis among those in contention to start.

Newcastle are 9/4 to stun City in 90 minutes, the draw is 11/4, while City are 21/20, giving them an implied win probability of 48.8%.

You only have to go back a fortnight for the most recent meeting between this pair, with Manchester City prevailing 2-1 at the Etihad in the Premier League.

The hosts will be buoyed by their midweek victory over Manchester United, and while City will be disappointed about dropping points at home to Nottingham Forest, Guardiola will be keen to see a reaction from his side here.

The visitors remain formidable opponents and the squad depth at Guardiola's disposal - particularly the attacking options - is what's making me lean towards a City win.

However, Newcastle can make life difficult for their opponents on Saturday - three of the four meetings between the pair this season have featured goals at both ends, and both teams have scored in Newcastle’s last 11 matches.

Omar Marmoush to score anytime @ 7/5

As mentioned above, City have a huge tie against Real Madrid coming up, so Omar Marmoush will likely start up top in place of Erling Haaland, as he did in the previous round against Salford City.

The Egyptian was an unused substitute against Forest, so he should be raring to go here. The 27-year-old recorded an assist in the aforementioned league meeting at the Etihad with Newcastle, and also scored both goals against the Toon Army in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie.

I think City's number seven is worth backing to bag anytime here at 7/5.
