Newcastle United vs Bromley Prediction: Routine victory for the Magpies

Newcastle United have been outstanding of late, winning all of their last seven matches in all competitions. The Magpies are looking back to their best, similar to that of the form they showed two seasons ago when they qualified for the Champions League.
They are in FA Cup third round action against Bromley on Sunday (15:00, BBC iPlayer). The League 2 outfit defeated National League sides Solihull Moors and Rochdale to book this glamorous tie. Read on for my Newcastle United vs Bromley prediction, accompanied by match odds and team news.
Newcastle United vs Bromley Betting Tips
Newcastle United vs Bromley Odds
With seven victories in a row, Newcastle are heavy favourites to win this tie inside 90 minutes at 1/8, which has an implied probability of 88.9%. Bromley are 18/1 to pull off the upset. They have already handled the pressure of being the away team in the previous two rounds, but they face much tougher hosts this time around.
The draw, which would force extra time, is on offer at 8/1 (11.1%) if you fancy the visitors to make this a tough affair for the high-flying Magpies.
Newcastle have kept five clean sheets in their last seven matches across all competitions and they are 4/5 to record another shutout on Sunday.
Team News
Alexander Isak has been incredible for the hosts in recent weeks. The Swedish striker has scored 10 goals in nine games in all comps since the start of December, cementing himself as one of the best attackers in the Premier League. He has now reached 50 goals for the Magpies in just 89 appearances.
He picked up a knock in Newcastle's 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, so he could be rested this weekend as a precaution. Callum Wilson, the main understudy, is back on the grass after his latest hamstring injury, but this game will come too soon for him to return to the pitch.
This could present a rare start for William Osula, who the club signed from Sheffield United. Boss Eddie Howe could opt to rest a lot of his stars for this clash, so the likes of Miguel Almiron, Harvey Barnes, Matt Targett, Joe Willock could all get some minutes in the tank from the off.
Sven Botman has returned from a long-term injury lay-off seamlessly, with two impressive performances since he came back into the fold. Fellow centre-back Jamaal Lascelles doesn't look to far behind but Howe has been tight-lipped on when the defender will be available for selection next.
Nick Pope remains out of action, so Martin Dubravka could continue in between the sticks, unless Howe decides to give an opportunity to summer arrival John Ruddy.
After shipping four goals at Crewe last time out, Bromley will need to improve drastically in defence, with Callum Reynolds likely to drop out of the XI.
Bromley could turn to experience against Premier League opposition, so we could see 37-year-old Byron Webster named in the starting lineup on Tyneside.
Michael Cheek should start up top to offer the visitors some bite in the final third, and he could once again be partnered by Louis Dennis.
Newcastle to win to nil @ 5/6
The Magpies have been so strong defensively during their strong run of form, conceding just twice in the last seven matches. As mentioned earlier, they have five clean sheets during that period, so I think 5/6 offers good value for them to win to nil on home soil against a side three divisions below them.
Even if Howe makes wholesale changes, he has plenty of quality in reserve to call upon, particularly wide man Barnes, who has a keen eye for goal. Once upon a time, midfielder Joe Willock scored in seven consecutive games for the Magpies, so he is another player Bromley need to be wary of heading into the weekend.
Of the current crop of defenders who are excelling, Dan Burn looks the most likely to be kept in the team for this tie, and he will lead and organise those around him to try and secure another shutout for the hosts, which would be more impressive if many alterations are made.
The team will be spurred on by their impressive defensive record over the past month and I think they should have more than enough to keep the Ravens at bay on Sunday.

Harvey Barnes anytime goalscorer @ 4/5
When Barnes joined Newcastle in the summer of 2023, you wouldn't have thought that his game time would be limited. He was signed from Leicester City for just shy of £40m and yet opportunities are hard to come by for him at the moment.
The injury he suffered early into his career on Tyneside didn't help but neither has the fierce competition from Anthony Gordon, who is now believed to be the highest-paid player at the club.
The two wide men are both right-footed and are at their best deployed on the left. Howe has tried Gordon on the right to accommodate them both but it then seems to diminish the former Everton man's potency in the final third.
Jacob Murphy is the main reason Barnes isn't getting a look in right now, though, as he is thriving on the right flank. Barnes will be pushing for a start here to show his boss what he can do. The best way to get Howe's attention would be by scoring a goal, which I am backing him to do against Bromley.
