The FA Cup final. The oldest trophy in football and still one of the most prestigious occasions on the sporting calendar. This year, Crystal Palace will face Manchester City (BBC One, 16:30), looking to end their 120-year wait for a major trophy.

They are the underdogs heading into this one, but anything is possible, and below you can find my Crystal Palace vs Manchester City Bet Builder Tips - using the new and improved Betfred Bet Builder tab.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester City Bet Builder Tips

  • Erling Haaland to score
  • Eberechi Eze to score from outside the box
  • Daniel Munoz and Will Hughes to be booked

Erling Haaland to score

He’s only just come back from injury, but I am going to back Erling Haaland to find the net for Manchester City in this final. He remains one of the most lethal goalscorers on the planet having hit 30 goals in 41 appearances this term while he scored against Palace at Selhurst Park earlier this season.

He missed the reverse game with that ankle injury, but City came out 5-2 winners in his absence, and I think they will pose a major goal threat here. After a string of quiet finals, both teams have scored in the last two editions of the FA Cup final, and I think both teams will find the net here again in what I’m expecting to be a fairly open encounter under the arch.

The sun will be blazing over the capital and I think Haaland can deliver the goods yet again.

Eberechi Eze to score from outside the box

My next goalscorer is a long-shot, quite literally, from a Palace perspective. Eberechi Eze has been utterly superb this season and lashed a goal in against Aston Villa in the semi-final from outside the box.

In fact, courtesy of Opta: ‘Since his move to Palace in August 2020, only four players have taken more shots from outside the penalty area than him (165). But the sheer volume of shots he takes means he has a decent output, with only three players scoring more goals from outside the box than his 11.’

It’s also worth noting that the big games don’t appear to phase him with goals against Villa, Manchester City, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest this term. I think he can pop off a few more efforts from outside the box in this final, and let’s back one of them to find the net.

Daniel Munoz and Will Hughes to be booked

A couple of bookings to round off our Bet Builder for the FA Cup final. You have to imagine that Palace will be incredibly aggressive without the ball and they will look to take the game to Manchester City so I’m going to back a couple of their likely candidates to pick up yellows.

Daniel Munoz is the first selection as he is set to start at right wing-back and could be up against Phil Foden or Jeremy Doku, both of whom will provide him with a tough test. Doku will look to dribble at him if he is selected and that direct running could catch him out. Munoz has picked up 10 yellows already this term, with three of those coming in his last five Premier League outings.

The other selection I’ll make is energetic midfielder Will Hughes. He and Jefferson Lerma both love to pick up a booking, with Hughes topping the charts for Palace with 11 this term. He’s longer odds than his midfield partner to get carded, so I’m happy to add him to the betslip for this FA Cup final.
