Birmingham City went toe-to-toe with Newcastle United in the fourth round of the FA Cup last season whilst in League 1. They will be hoping to do the same again at St. Andrew's on Sunday with Leeds United making the trip to the West Midlands (12:00 GMT, TNT Sports 3).

The Blues are eight games unbeaten in all competitions, whilst Leeds have already taken down a Championship side away from home in the cup - beating Derby County 3-1. Read on for my Birmingham vs Leeds predictions, accompanied by the latest match odds and team news.

Team News

Birmingham goalkeeper Ryan Allsop lost his place to loanee James Beadle earlier in the season. He didn't even get an opportunity to feature in the third-round victory at Cambridge United. So it would seem that Beadle will keep his place in the team on Sunday.

Bright Osayi-Samuel could drop back down to the bench in favour of Tomoki Iwata at right-back. August Priske could be in line to make his first start for the club since his Janauary arrival from Djurgarden.

Demarai Gray made his return from injury in Tuesday's goalless draw with West Bromwich Albion, and he is set for his first start since Boxing Day.

Alex Cochrane (ankle), Jack Robinson and Ethan Laird (both hamstring) remain unavailable, but Chris Davies has confirmed the latter has returned to training.

Lee Buchanan continues to build his fitness following a severe knee injury in December 2024. Paik Seung-ho was withdrawn early on against West Brom with a shoulder issue, so he is likely to miss out on Sunday.

Football Odds

There are doubts surrounding Leeds' top scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who missed their midweek trip to Chelsea due to illness. Defender Pascal Struijk is absent owing to a hip issue, with Anton Stach having a similar problem that has kept him out of the last two matches.

Daniel Farke has no other fresh concerns to deal with heading to B9.

Birmingham vs Leeds Predicted Lineups

  • Leeds: Darlow; Bornauw, Bijol, Ampadu; Gnonto, Tanaka, Gruev, Byram; Piroe, Nmecha, Okafor

Today's Football Fixtures

Birmingham vs Leeds Odds

Birmingham have won four of their last seven games in all competitions and they are 11/5 to prevail in regulation time. The Blues are 6/5 to win the tie.

Leeds' previous two away trips have ended level, with the draw marketed at 5/2. The Whites are 5/4 to win inside 90 minutes and they have won three of the past four competitive meetings with Birmingham.

BTTS - Yes has landed in six of the visitors' last eight matches and is marketed at 8/13 on this occasion.

Birmingham vs Leeds Stats

  • Four of Leeds' last seven competitive matches have seen both teams score and over 3.5 goals
  • Leeds won a nine-goal thriller here in the Championship back in December 2019

Both Teams To Score & Total Goals Over/Under 3.5 - Yes & Over @ 2/1

Birmingham are unbeaten in 11 home games and they will look to utilise that against Premier League opposition. They gave a good account of themselves against Newcastle last season despite going on to lose the game 3-2 at St. Andrew's.

It is because of this game that I think that there could be plenty of goals on offer against Leeds. The Blues won by the same scoreline in their third-round triumph over Cambridge United last month, which followed another 3-2 victory here agains Coventry City in the Championship.

The visitors also have their part in the appeal of this market, as four of their previous seven competitive fixtures have seen both teams score and produce over 3.5 goals. Interestingly, three of these games have come on their travels.

Additionally, Leeds were 5-4 victors in their second-most recent visit to Birmingham which came in December 2019 under Marcelo Bielsa.

The 2/1 price (implied probability of 33.3%) feels like it is too good to ignore for this battle on Sunday.

Anytime Goalscorer - August Priske @ 15/8

Priske was one of Birmingham's most eye-catching signings in the winter transfer window. He is a striker who looks like he can do a bit of everything, and at just 21 years of age, looks a great investment for the ambitious Blues.

Birmingham fought off a lot of competition for last season's Allsvenskan's top scorer, with Priske bagging 18 goals last season. The striker is likely going to get his first start for his new team on Sunday and he will be out to make an impression as he bids for regular minutes in Birmingham's play-off push.

The Dane was denied his first goal in royal blue on Tuesday against West Brom. His late headed effort was chalked off because of Gray's interference in front of the goalkeeper.

It was disappointing for the youngster but given his tenacity and raw attributes, I believe he can play a big role in this cup tie and open his Blues account.
