Crystal Palace vs Millwall Prediction: Eagles to soar into the quarter-finals

Crystal Palace welcome Millwall to Selhurst Park on Saturday (12:15, BBC One) for their FA Cup fifth-round tie. The Eagles recorded a statement 4-1 victory here over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Tuesday and they will now look to book their place in the quarter-finals of the world's most famous domestic club competition.
Millwall will make the short trip to south London off the back of a four-game unbeaten run in all competitions, which included a 1-0 win at Derby County last time out in the Championship. Read on for my Crystal Palace vs Millwall predictions, accompanied by the latest match odds and team news.
Crystal Palace vs Millwall Betting Tips
Crystal Palace vs Millwall Odds
Crystal Palace have won their last two home games in all competitions heading into this contest, and they are 1/3 to win in regulation time. Both their previous FA Cup appearances saw them win to nil and this market is on offer at 4/5 (which has an implied probability of 55.6%).
Two of Millwall's past three outings in the Championship have ended in a stalemate. The draw can be backed at 4/1.
The Lions have triumphed in four of their previous six away matches in all competitions, and they are 11/1 to stun their Premier League hosts.
Both teams to score has struck in Palace's last three appearances at Selhurst Park in the Premier League and is marketed at 13/8 (38.1%) for Saturday.
Jean-Philippe Mateta is the Eagles' top scorer with 15 goals this season across all competitions, eight of which have come on home soil. He is the 23/20 favourite to score anytime.
Team News
Crystal Palace were without the services of Joel Ward, Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucoure once again in midweek, and the trio's absence is expected to continue on Saturday.
Defender Marc Guehi picked up a knee issue in the Villa which required treatment during the game. The England international played the full 90 minutes, but there is a chance that he is left out at the weekend as a precaution.
Striker Eddie Nketiah bagged his first Premier League goal for the Eagles in the 91st minute last time out, and he may be given the nod to start against Millwall to further build up his confidence. The former Arsenal man has already bagged two goals in the Carabao Cup this campaign.
Glasner could decide to keep Adam Wharton and Will Hughes in midfield but Jefferson Lerma will be in search of a decent run out as well. Ben Chilwell may get an opportunity at left wing-back, while Nathaniel Clyne can slip into the back three if Guehi is unavailable.
Daichi Kamada is another who will be looking for a promotion from the bench, and winger Romain Esse is poised to get his first crack at the club he left in the winter transfer window.
Millwall boss Alex Neil has no fresh concerns ahead of the trip to SE25. Josh Coburn made a long-awaited return from injury last week to make cameo appearances against both Preston North End and Derby County in the Championship.
The striker was the match-winner in the dying minutes at Derby last time out, and he looks set to lead the line for the Lions at Selhurst Park. Wide man Femi Azeez bagged a brace in the 2-0 victory at Leeds United in the fourth round, so he is likely to gain another start in this competition.
Crystal Palace to win to nil @ 4/5
Palace's two FA Cup appearances this season both came against lower league opposition in Stockport County and Doncaster Rovers. On both occasions, the Eagles won without conceding a goal.
This has also been the case in four of Palace's last five top-flight victories, so Glasner's team have been excellent defensively of late. I think they should have enough first-team regulars involved on Saturday to keep up this impressive trend.
The Palace manager has utilised the likes of Mateta, Eberechi Eze and Ismaila Sarr in this competition already, so if any of these attacking stars were to play, Millwall are going to be in for a tough afternoon, especially after the Eagles battered Champions League contenders Villa in their last appearance.
I think the hosts have more than enough quality in both boxes to navigate their way into the next round, so I'm backing them to win to nil again.

Jean-Philippe Mateta anytime goalscorer @ 23/20
As Palace's top scorer with 15 goals in all competitions, I can't turn to anyone else but Mateta to find the back of the net in this contest. The Frenchman started up top against Doncaster in the fourth round but Glasner chose Nketiah to lead the line in the third-round clash with Stockport.
Whether Mateta starts or comes on from the bench this time around, I fancy him to have an impact. The forward is on a great run of form at the moment, netting eight goals in his last nine appearances in all competitions.
He's currently one of the best centre-forwards in the Premier League, and I think he can cause plenty of problems for Millwall. Mateta has already scored against the Lions, too, scoring the winning goal when the teams faced in this competition in January 2022.
