As the Championship season reaches its conclusion, Millwall host Oxford United (12:30 BST, Sky Sports Football), in a fixture which may have significant implications for the top end of the table.

Millwall have to win to stand a chance of overhauling Ipswich Town and making it into the top two on the final day. Do that, and any slip-up from the Tractor Boys will see the Lions promoted to the Premier League for the first time. Read on for my Millwall vs Oxford prediction featuring team news and more.

Team News

Alex Neil is sweating on the fitness of Caleb Taylor, Alfie Doughty and Billy Mitchell, and will have to balance winning this game with the potential play-offs that may lie ahead. Josh Coburn was taken off after just 10 minutes against Leicester and so Mihailo Ivanovic should lead the line.

If Ipswich are winning heavily in the second half, you can imagine that Neil will turn his attention to the play-offs, so expect the likes of Barry Bannan and Tom Watson to feature from the bench.

Oxford are already relegated and will be without captain Cameron Brannagan after he came off injured against Sheffield Wednesday. He joins Greg Leigh, Brian De Keersmaecker, Tyler Goodrham and Przemyslaw Placheta in the injury room, and how differently Oxford’s season could have been had they all stayed fit.

Yunus Konak is in line to replace Brannagan, while Sam Long and Myles Peart-Harris are also pushing for starts.

Today's Football Fixtures

Millwall to win to nil @ 6/5

Millwall need to win to give themselves a chance of automatic promotion and I do think they will get the job done. They’ve got a relatively kind fixture for the final day, given it is at home, and Oxford are already down. Matt Bloomfield’s side have shown improvement since he came in but ultimately it wasn't enough and they are planning for life in League 1 next term.

Their away form has cost them ultimately, and they’ve only picked up 18 points from 22 away games, managing just 21 goals in that time. With their injuries, I think Millwall will be able to pick up the win they desire in front of a raucous home crowd, but I’m not sure it will be enough to overhaul Ipswich Town.

Femi Azeez to score or assist @ 4/6

Femi Azeez is the star of this Millwall side having registered nine goals and eight assists in 34 matches. That’s a goal contribution every two games, while he will surely fancy his chances of stepping up in these crucial games of the season.

Azeez’s deliveries should cause Oxford problems, so let’s back him to score or assist on the final day.
