We were a Reading goal away from our Saturday 14/1 BTTS fivefold coming in and we go again for Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup slate with the same amount of games and the same headline price in hopes of going that one step better…

BTTS Tips – Tuesday 8 August, 2023

  • Back BTTS Yes in Wrexham vs Wigan Athletic @ 4/6
  • Back BTTS Yes in Peterborough United vs Swindon Town @ 8/11
  • Back BTTS Yes in Stevenage vs Watford @ 8/11
  • Back BTTS Yes in Sutton United vs Cambridge United @ 8/11
  • Back BTTS Yes in Sheffield Wednesday vs Stockport County @ 4/5
  • Overall Odds – 14/1

The first game involves Wrexham who (spoiler alert) will be heavily involved in this column going forward until they show us that they can defend. They scored three times on Saturday, which is good. They conceded five times, which is less good. For this column though it is a good insight into how they play and with Wigan themselves being involved in a BTTS winner on Saturday, this is an obvious first leg.

Swindon didn’t play on Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch. Yes, a waterlogged pitch in August. You’ve got to love the good old Great British summer. The hosts secured a 0-1 win at Reading in the game that cost us a winner at the weekend. After a washout, you would expect the visitors to put out a first XI to get their season going and that should lead to a more open game.

Watford blew QPR away in their league opener with the Hornets scoring four times from a total of 13 shots on target. That is quite the exciting start for fans of the club but I wouldn’t be shocked if they utilise their squad on Tuesday night. This will give the visitors a good chance to hit the back of the net. Would not be shocked if this was a high-scoring affair.

In game four of our fourfold we have a Sutton team who blasted the heavily fancied Notts County for five at the weekend. The visitors may have been down to ten-men early but the home side were still lethal in front of goal. Cambridge themselves bagged a couple on Saturday, with two first half goals. Another potential open cup game here with two solid attacks.

I’ve already tipped Stockport County for the shock win in an accumulator column, so clearly I think the visitors score. They weren’t able to hit the back of the net at the weekend but they were able to have 16 attempts on goal. Sheffield Wednesday were outplayed by Southampton in the Friday night game but they were still able to find the back of the net. BTTS is a good shot here.
