Bet Builder @ 11/2
Both teams to score - Yes
A good place to start with this Bet Builder is the likelihood that there will be goals, with both teams having plenty of attacking talent, combined with the tendency to regularly concede.
For all their success of late, Bournemouth have conceded in six of their last seven games, while they have only kept a clean sheet in two of their 15 Premier League games to date this term.
Only Brighton have managed to score more than once at the Vitality Stadium, but there is every reason to believe that West Ham can find the net. The visitors have scored in each of their last four games, notching a total of seven goals during that period.
Yet while the goals are starting to flow for the Hammers, they continue to leak at the other end. They conceded five times at home against Arsenal in November and then let in three at Leicester in their last away game.
In total, West Ham have conceded 28 goals, with only Leicester, Southampton and Wolves having let in more. Both teams to score provides a solid base for this Bet Builder.
Team stats - Bournemouth over 5.5 shots on target
Much of Bournemouth’s success has been built on their willingness to attack, create chances and be bold when it comes to taking shots.
With 241 shots on goal, Bournemouth came into the weekend ranked second in the Premier League for this statistic, with only Manchester City having made more attempts. That puts them ahead of the league leaders Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal, while West Ham’s ranking of seventh adds further weight to the argument that both teams will score.
Some 79 of Bournemouth’s shots have been on target, an average of 5.26 efforts per-match. That’s just below the target of 5.5 that we’re aiming for, but it seems likely that they will surpass that figure against West Ham.
We have already mentioned how many goals the Hammers let in. That’s no surprise when you consider that they came into the weekend ranked fifth for most shots conceded.
One of the major flaws at West Ham since Julen Lopetegui took charge is how open they look and how easy they are to counter-attack. Against a team like Bournemouth who are committed to an aggressively attacking style and firing off shots on sight, the visiting keeper Lukasz Fabianski seems sure to be kept busy.
AFC Bournemouth vs West Ham United Odds
Team corners - West Ham over 4.5
There should be plenty of corners in this match, with Bournemouth winning the fifth highest amount in the Premier League heading into the weekend, while West Ham were ranked 10th for the same statistic.
Both teams also rank highly when it comes to the total number of corners in a game, with Bournemouth’s matches averaging 11.6 and West Ham’s being not far behind with 11.3.
The Hammers average 5.2 corners per-match themselves and that is on target to beat the total of over 4.5 corners that we are looking for.
When you look at how many corners Bournemouth concede, it adds to the certainty that this leg of our Bet Builder will be successful.
The Cherries concede 5.07 corners on average and with West Ham potentially lining up with a tricky front three of Crysencio Summerville, Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen, that average can be matched or surpassed on Monday.
Player stats - Lewis Cook 2+ fouls
Bournemouth press high and aggressively. Inevitably that leads to them conceding plenty of fouls as they try to win back possession in dangerous areas of the pitch.
They ranked sixth for the most tackles in the Premier League heading into the weekend and second for the most fouls. It’s no surprise then to find that there are individual players from Bournemouth that are committing a lot of offences.
Two Bournemouth players were joint-fourth on the list of the players that have committed the most fouls this season ahead of this matchday, with both midfielder Lewis Cook and forward Antoine Semenyo giving away 30 fouls apiece.
That is an average of just over two fouls a game and we are backing Cook to surpass that number against West Ham.
With the visitors desperate for points, this could be a match where both sides are very committed and with 38 yellow cards apiece for these teams this season, there is plenty of evidence that the sparks will fly.
Player stats - Antoine Semenyo 1+ shots on target
As well as featuring highly on the list of the players that commit the most fouls, Semenyo is also having a strong season from an attacking perspective.
So far he has scored four times and assisted once from 14 Premier League appearances. Last season he scored eight times in the top flight from 33 games, so he is well on the way to bettering that tally.
The Ghanaian’s form has caught the attention of some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, with the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle linked with a summer move, which highlights the performances he has been producing.
It is likely that he will line up on the left of Bournemouth’s attack, where he will be up against the West Ham right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
This promises to be a good battle, but the amount of shots that the hosts take suggests that there is a strong chance that Semenyo can cut inside on his trusty right-foot and fire in a shot on target, at least a couple of times in the game.
