Our 3-3-3 columnist Jamie Pacheco has enjoyed an extremely profitable season so far and has now nudged above the 20pt mark in the green. Not bad going that and he's back with three picks from across Europe - all of which take place on Saturday this week.

The selections are from Spain, Portugal and France, so let's check out who he's picked and why with our Saturday Football Tips from Europe...

Last year, the 3-3-3 column returned a profit of 17 points, which means that if you’d backed every treble recommended over the course of the season for level £10 stakes, you’d be up by £170. That’s one of the better returns you’ll see in the tipping business and speaking of returns, Jamie Pacheco is returning again this year to do try to do it all over again, and maybe even improve on it.

Welcome to the 3-3-3 betting column. Why is it called that? Glad you asked.  It’s not a formation to play when you’ve had a man sent off but rather:

3- The number of different selections making up the acca.

3- The number of different (non-English) European Leagues the selections are taken from every week.

3- The minimum odds (3/1) or 4.0 if you prefer, that the acca will come to it every week.

And it really is as simple as that. The selections can be from any betting markets, as long as they meet the criteria set out above.  And to round things off, every week I’ll leave you with a cool (or at least I think so) bit of trivia involving one of the teams featured in the acca. Simples...

2025-26 season Current P and L: +20.87 pts

2024-25 season’s P and L: + 16.9

A great result for us last week, the 3-3-3 column coming in at odds of 4.52 to take our profit for the year above the 20-point mark.

It showed that there are ‘many ways to skin a cat’ when it comes to putting together a good treble whilst following the rules of the column.

Last time out, we went for a big-priced selection in the first part of it, a ‘both teams to score’ bet at 7/4 in Napoli v Lecce, so it was always looking good from the moment underdogs Lecce scored early, the match eventually ending 2-1 to Napoli.

It gave us great flexibility with the two other two selections and though Benfica getting two goals was pretty tight, with them only scoring the second in second-half injury time, they both came good in the end.

A word on the Barcelona match. We went for a very conservative over 1.5 goals at 1/10 (probably the shortest price ever on a selection in this column) and it’s easy in hindsight to say we could have been more ambitious and gone for at least over 2.5 goals to give us a bigger-priced treble.

But what if it had ended 1-0, going against all the stats and that downed the whole acca because we were too greedy? Exactly.

Anyway, a great winner and let’s try to build on that.

  • Elche v Mallorca
  • Saturday 21st March 13:00
  • Back over 2.5 goals @ 11/10

We’re following a similar strategy here to last week in that we’re going with a bet at odds-against to open up proceedings. If it comes in, we have a great chance of landing the treble again.

But should over 2.5 goals be odds-against (11/10) in this match? Probably not.

Elche have a 57% strike rate for ‘overs’ games this season at home. Seven of their last eight at home have had at least three goals and their away record shows a 64% strike rate for ‘overs’ and all of their last five going that way.

Are Mallorca matches low-scoring, then to justify that odds-against price?   No, quite the opposite. Mallorca are 71% on the road and 57% at home for ‘overs’ games, including four of their last five away seeing ‘overs’ pay out.

Not even the head-to-head goes any way to explaining why ‘overs’ is the outsider because three of the last five between them have those vital three goals. It’s a no-brainer.

  • Benfica v Guimaraes
  • Saturday 21st March 18:00
  • Back Benfica to win and over 1.5 goals @ 4/9

Benfica dug deep to get the win they needed last week and to also get us the win we needed when scoring that second goal.

But the most surprising thing about that match was that it came to that at all.

They dominated the game and have been pretty good of late, winning five of their last six, the only one they didn’t win being a 2-2 draw against league leaders Porto.

All of those wins were with over 1.5 goals in the match, and in the last four times they were at home to Guimaraes, they won all four of them, with three of those having two or more goals; two years ago it was 4-0, and the year before that it was 5-1.

So, assuming Benfica win, it’s unlikely to be 1-0.

  • Nice v PSG
  • Saturday 21st March 20:05
  • Back Over 2.5 Goals @ 2/5

PSG were excellent over two legs against Chelsea winning 5-2 and 3-0 and perhaps more significantly, showed excellent potential for an ‘overs’ bet here.

It’s now 10 of their last 11 that have gone ‘overs’ in all competition, that run including such scores as 5-0 against Marseille, plus 2-3 and 2-2 when playing Monaco in Europe.

They’re certainly an entertaining side at the moment in that they score plenty but also give you a chance because their defence is by no means at the same standard as their attack.

Nice’s last two at home ended 3-3 and 0-4, so they currently have ‘overs ' potential, too.

Jamie’s Fun Fact

Last season PSG achieved a sextuple, including winning Ligue 1, the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup.
