1 pt 15:13 Towcester – Garfiney Warrior (T1) @ SP

Three from Towcester this afternoon on an action-packed card featuring nine trial stakes races of the upcoming English Greyhound Derby. At 15:13 look out for the Graham Holland-trained Irish raider GARFINEY WARRIOR, who lines up from T1 in the Star Sports & Orchestrate Derby Trial Stakes over the standard four-bend 500-metre trip at Towcester. The lightly raced November 2023 son of Droopys Sydney bolted up at Shelbourne Park and Cork in February and was then put away ready for a crack at the English Derby.

Last week on first look at the circuit, Garfiney Warrior clocked 29.10 following a 4.06 sectional. That was his first outing in a couple of months, so he will come on for that run and looks well-drawn this afternoon to go close. The key is an ultra-competitive race is the break, hold the rails and its race on. Bockos Buster (T4) and Lennies Dynamic (T5) are blessed with blistering early gears, both rate as huge dangers to the selection. Dereks Legend (T2) will be staying on well and could be worth including in forecast bets at fancy prices.

15:13 Towcester - Winner
Garfiney Warrior

1 pt 16:09 Towcester – Ballymac Kobe (T1) @ SP

At 16:09 all eyes will be on the boxes in a race full of early pace, with Ballymac Kobe (T1), Faypoint Harvey (T3), Lennies Eddie (T4), Santa Amigo (T5) and Texas Jack (T6) all looking to lead round. Preference based on the rails draw is for the Maxine Locke-trained Romford raider BALLYMAC KOBE in T1. The May 2023 son of Ballymac Cashout bolted up over course and distance last week, clocking 28.97 following a smart 3.99 sectional.

That was only his second competitive run since last summer, so he will come on plenty for that outing and looks a major player this afternoon in a very interesting race that will give plenty of pointers for the upcoming Star Sports & Orchestrate English Derby. Lightly raced youngster Lennies Eddie (T4) clocked 28.62 last week bolting up by three and three-quarter lengths. The Paul Hennessy-trained Irish raider looks a nice type and is one to keep an eye on for the competition outright.

14:09 Towcester - Winner
Ballymac Kobe

1 pt 17:43 Towcester – Drumcrow Maverik (T6) @ SP

The third and final selection from Towcester this afternoon is DRUMCROW MAVERIK, who lines up from T6 in the D5 graded race at 17:43 over the two-bend 270-metre trip. Maverik is three from six in the grade and looks well-drawn this afternoon to win again and add to that impressive strike rate. As ever, the key over the sprint distance is what happens at the boxes.

It's imperative that Maverik traps well and clears Holmleigh Gill (T5) at lid rise. Fabulous Leia (T4) is worth noting in the market on debut. The recent 16.84 and 16.69 trials would make the November 2024 pup competitive and, with further improvement likely she could be a player this afternoon if she gets it right at the boxes. Former Oxford-based Greyhound Ballyvodane Rock (T2) would be a danger to all if he popped out and grabbed the rails at lid rise on Towcester debut.

17:43 Towcester - Winner
Drumcrow Maverik

Odds correct at time of publishing.
