Saturday Greyhound Tips: Michael’s picked out three tips from Towcester

Michael Smyth (bettingjungle), our resident greyhound tipster, heads to Towcester to kick off this bank holiday weekend.

1 pt 20:18 Towcester – Ballymac Iroko (T6) @ SP

All eyes on Towcester this evening with the quarter-finals of the Star Sports & Orchestrate English Derby taking centre stage. At 20:18, look out for well-drawn wide BALLYMAC IROKO who lines up from T6 with a vacant box on his inside and Droopys Aladdin in T4 moving rails. Irish raider Iroko, trained by Liam Dowling, looks plotted up and could go well at a price.

It is, however, a very competitive race with Proper Heiress (T1), Epic Ace (T2) and Underground Gold (T3) all more than capable of pinging out and making all, along with Aladdin in T4. This race is all about what happens at the boxes.

Epic Ace (T2) is three from three at Towcester with wins recorded in 28.71, 28.47 and a flying track record win in 28.14 last time out. He’s a huge runner this evening and in the competition outright.

1 pt 20:38 Towcester– Ballymac Duffle (T4) @ SP

Another Liam Dowling-trained Irish raider appeals in the next Derby heat (20:38) with BALLYMAC DUFFLE looking a strong play from T4.

The lightly-raced May 2024 son of Ballymac Cooper is blessed with blistering all round pace and last time out produced a run that had to be seen to be believed. Slowly away, trouble early on and half a dozen lengths behind class act Slick Sentinel at halfway, Duffle clicked into turbo and started making his move at the third bend.

He railed strongly and was within striking distance off the final bend and got up on the line to record a short head victory in 28.75. Tonight, Duffle backers will hope he pings the lids. If that happens, it should be all over bar the shouting. Scooby The Lady (T2) and Gaytime Clyde (T3) both have strong qualification claims.

1 pt 21:18 Towcester – Ballymac Ralf (T3) @ SP

The third and final selection from the Northamptonshire venue, Towcester, this evening, is again another Liam Dowling-trained performer in the shape of BALLYMAC RALF who lines up from T3 at 21:18. Ralf starts and stays.

This four-bend 500-metre trip is ideal and, granted a clear run, he can book his place in next round of the Category One competition. Strike It Skye from the Mark Wallis kennel in T2 is a class act and would be a danger to all with a level break.

The January 2024 daughter of Ballymac Cashout has huge middle gears and would be a runner if she turns within striking distance. Goldcash Warrior looks well-drawn in T1 and could go well at a price. Slick Sentinel (T6) could attract support from a plot draw out in T6.
