Angers SCO vs Nantes Prediction: Another competitive head-to-head at the Stade Raymond-Kopa

FC Nantes finished 13th in Ligue 1 last season, just three points above 16th-placed Stade de Reims, who were relegated after losing a play-off match. After 15 games, just two of which they have won, it's looking like another campaign of struggle for Nantes, who are level on 11 points with bottom-club FC Metz.
On Friday (19:45 GMT, Ligue 1 Pass), they head to the Stade Raymond-Kopa to take on Angers SCO, who have won three of their last four games to move up to 11th, eight points ahead of their next opponents. Below are my Angers SCO vs Nantes predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Emmanuel Biumla (muscle) last featured in a 5-0 hammering at RC Strasbourg on October 5, and he looks set to miss out again this Friday.
Justin Kalumba (knock) is also doubtful after taking no part in training on Monday or Tuesday.
As for Nantes, they could be without Francis Coquelin (hamstring) and Louis Leroux (thigh), as well as Bahereba Guirassy (unspecified), who came off injured in the 44th minute of last Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to RC Lens.
Angers SCO vs Nantes Predicted Lineups
- Angers SCO: Koffi; Arcus, Camara, Lefort, Ekomie; Belkebla, Abdelli; Allevinah, Mouton, Sbai; Cherif
- Nantes: Lopes; Amian, Awaziem, Tati, Cozza; Lepenant, Hyeok-kyu, Tabibou; Lahdo, El-Arabi, Abline
Angers are 5/4 favourites on Friday, implying a 44.4% probability of success, while Nantes are 23/10, or a 30.3% chance, to record their first competitive win at this stadium since September 2021, with the draw offered at 11/5.
Angers SCO vs Nantes Stats
- Both H2Hs last season produced 50 booking points
- SCO top Ligue 1's Under 2.5 Goals table, with 80% of their games going that way
- NAN (60%) are joint-second
Booking Points Over/Under +42.5 - Over 42.5 @ 11/8
I'm expecting a competitive contest between these two teams on Friday, as was the case in both games last season.
At the Stade Raymond-Kopa in September 2024, five yellow cards were shown, four to Nantes, one to Angers, totalling 50 booking points (10 per yellow).
In the reverse fixture at the Stade de la Beaujoire in May, another five bookings were issued, three to Angers, two to Nantes, therefore bringing up another 50 booking points.
With both sides likely battling relegation this season, I'm expecting more tension between the two this term, so over 42.5 booking points looks achievable again on Friday.

Total Goals - Under 2.5 @ 4/6
The last six competitive contests between the two teams, including both in 2024/25, have finished with two or fewer goals, while even their friendly in August of this year ended with just a single goal in Angers' favour.
Last season's corresponding fixture saw the sides play out a 1-1 draw, while at Nantes in May, Angers claimed a 1-0 win.
Angers are top of the Under 2.5 Goals table in Ligue 1 this term, with 80% (12) of their 15 games seeing two or fewer goals scored, while Nantes are just behind in joint-second, with 60% (nine).
