16:34 Newcastle - Clona Ice (T4) @ SP

We return to the scene of our most impressive victory, having been off since September. In recent weeks, we have trialled three times, running some solid 480m races and recording some quick times, staying always our fortis, and we can beat our danger by gaining the first run.

How I see this 640m open race being run:

T1 slow breaker but solid form over numerous distances, but will need to improve a great deal to beat us and T6, I personally don't see that, and this runner can stay on into 3rd place today.

T2 vacant trap.

T3 good form over six bends at Pelaw, winning the last two. Not so good when stepped up to eight bends there latest, has never been here for a race or a trial, and that is a big negative - I don't see this runner challenging us today.

T5, a couple of trials here in preparation for this race, has nearly 10 lengths to find with us over the 480m form, which means this runner is most likely the outsider in this race today.

T6 main danger to us, in excellent form over course and distance winning well and recording some quick times in process, it's basically a match race today and I feel we will get first run and if we do can go clear and this runner staying in for second place, if we don't come away however or get held up then this runner can take advantage.

So, to us in T4, we should lead the inside runner in T1, T3 a bit of an unknown, but looking at split times and running style, I think we can lead that runner too, if we turn first we will just stretch clear and win well. We are also strong so if we turn a handy second. I think we will have enough in tank to pick the leaders up, either way we will get two bites of the cherry today, and I am confident of a big run.

We have been a revelation over course and distance in the last month, really appreciating this long run to the bend, and with that have won 3-3, recording some quick times in the process. Sometimes it's about finding the perfect course and perfect distance, and I believe the trainer and owners have done that with this dog, and he can continue winning as he pleases over this trip.

How I see this 275m open standard race being run:

T1 quick win in D2 grade last week, 16.72 run would challenge us but did get things her own way, overall form here is two wins from eight races so will really need to improve to challenge us, first time wearing red vest today and may edge into the path of T2 early on as normally runs from a mid trap.

T2 scrape paint so will turn left as traps open and can spoil T1s chances in doing that, recently come back onto the card, this Pelaw raider ran ok last week, but over five lengths slower than us over same distance, and that's a big chunk to find over such a short distance

T4 solid local, has broken 17 seconds for this trip, so you have to respect that form. Will stay straight on the run up, and that can give us the space we need inside to pace up, this runner has form over further so will be coming home strongly today.

T5 vacant trap.

T6 another runner that is a sub-17 second sprinter here, had this race been in August, then this runner would've been a massive danger to us; however has been off for a while and from races since his return, I don't feel this runner has the same pace, and the times he has recorded aren't up to the calibre of ours.

So, to us in T3,an ideal launchpad to break well/pace up and clear this field at the bend, really good bend runner here, and can kick on off the last to win this race by multiple lengths. I make this runner one of my best bets of the day.
