Friday Greyhounds Tips: Elvis is in the building

20:36 Romford - T5 (Crafty Santino) @ SP

We were a major eye-catcher last week after stumbling out the boxes, yet still managed to qualify in second place after losing multiple lengths at the start. Visually it was an impressive run and a level start will be all we need to safely book our place in the decider this evening.

How I see this third semi-final of the Puppy Cup panning out: 

T1 - If we could turn the clock back to May this runner would have an above average chance in tonight's contest as it was running at the peak of her powers then. Been off but returned last week to qualify in second place holding every chance, time wise will need to improve but does have a good draw to work from. 

T2 - Beat us last week when drawn in T4, again will need to improve to qualify but you can do no more than win like this runner did last week. I think will be taken on for the lead tonight and may crowd up with T3 on the run up. 

T3 - Better trial time than in races over course and distance so far and will do well to avoid T2 taking her ground early on in this, if able to come away and repeat trial time could be a danger to us.

T4 - Two runs ago dipped under 24 seconds, a repeat and this one will be battling it out with us throughout this contest. Will edge slightly left on run up and space maybe at a premium up the middle on run up, but again if coming round unscathed could run well.

T6 - Slow to go wide runner, good draw but will be a big price in tonight's contest, will need lots of trouble and the race to be slow to get involved, not for me.

So to us in T5 - We have a good draw and all we need is a level break as we have good early pace former sprinter in Ireland so being quickly away is something a sprinter needs. I feel we turn handy in this if not leading and using our middle pace to go clear and win this semi final well. Strong choice.

21:48 Sunderland - T1 (Bramble Elvis) @ SP

How I see this open race staying event being run:

T2 - Slow to go last week but still picked up and lead by sixth bend to pull right away in a similar contest so I know this one stays, I believe we will gain first run tonight and that will be key to our success.

T3 - Was in the same race as T2 last week and was a big outsider, lots to find based on that evidence alone and from the same trap will do well to avoid being crowded at first bend, again I see this runner being a big price and one of tonight's outsiders.

 T4 - Poor draw for this railer and will edge across as soon as the traps go up, both T3 and T2 will no doubt be interfered with on the run up and that will spoil each of their chances, no form or nothing to suggest this runner will excel over this far, not for me.

T5 - Didn't look to stay 526m on her only run over extended four-bend trip, over in the UK has only four-bend form to go off and there is nothing that suggests to me this is a good move stepping her up to 640m and I can see this runner weakening second lap 

T6 - Could be our main danger as is drawn really well, I have noted that this runner eases and doesn't run the bends that fluently and that could be his downfall tonight, if this was just a straight line race then this runner would probably win but it's not and this runner will cause his own trouble unless getting out in front, if he does lead than he will be a massive danger to us.

So back to us in T1 - we have an ideal launchpad to lead early, we need to look after ourselves round the first two bends and then it's game on to close on the leader and stay on well to win this race going away. We have lots going for us that's why I make T1 my bet of the day. Very confident of a big run.
