Greyhound Tips - Sunday, August 31

  • T3 (Bankrobber) 13:51 Yarmouth @ SP
  • T2 (Distant Fox) 16:24 Sheffield @ SP

T3 (Bankrobber) 13:51 Yarmouth @ SP

We are still to win on these shores since moving from Wexford but we do have some solid trials and during our two races we haven't had the best of runs and luck - but today's downgrade will help and we can record our first victory.

How I see this A4 race panning out;

T1 is totally out of form finishing last in three of her last five races, going off fancy prices in four of those. Has a record in the grade of one out of 20 so finds this grade tough. Not for me.

T2's a slow-to-go runner, one good time in last five runs, overall form average and will do well to avoid crowding at the first bend. With split times leading me to think that a few of today's field are all going to be getting to the end at the same time I can't see them all going round without trouble.

T4 has good early pace and I see this runner being prominent for the first half of today's race. Form overall has been in the lower A5 grade, was upped two grades after a facile win at the start of August but found A3 too hot. Down to this A4 grade since and has been second the last twice.

T5 is coming up through the grades, this pup has gone from A9 in July up to this A4 grade, was visibly unlucky last week when coming to win the race but badly crowded on the run in. To me rates our main danger today.

T6 is not in the best of form recently and has been going off at double-figure prices, crying out for a downgrade from the grader. I can't see this one getting involved today.

So to us in T3 - drawn outside slow starter which will help initially, we just need to be clever and look after ourselves at the initial bend and then it's game on.

I can see us tracking the early pace in T4 before taking the race up by the third bend. I will be watching where T5 is at that point as that one is strong late on.

To me all we need here is a clean run and then the race will be ours to lose. I'm very confident either way of a big run.

T2 (Distant Fox) 16:24 Sheffield @ SP

We ran really well last week and recorded a quick time over the 660m trip, the race make-up today will suit us over the 500m and I can see us coming into this race late on and winning going away.

How I see this A2 race being run;

T1 is a very consistent runner and hasn't been out the first two in the last five runs winning three of them. Times have been similar for each run, too; this afternoon however I do see this runner setting the race up for us.

In  my research I went back four runs and found this opponent beat us but we were very unlucky that day. I still rate him as our main danger today.

T3 Vacant

T4 again is another runner who is in great form, winning three of the last four runs in the grade. Times are a bit slower than T1 overall, and what is going to happen is both T1 and T4 will have the early pace and we can tuck in on the rails and bide our time before challenging late on.

If we do get held up one of either T1 or this runner might just last out.

T5 - quick time latest and another runner that likes to be prominent, again another consistent sort but I don't see the race being run to suit this one. Will also edge off a true line as is more used to being drawn on the outside.

T6 was second at odds-on last week behind T1 when having every chance, prior to that had made all in this grade, and will need to avoid T5 on the run up today but will run his usual honest race. Possesses a 50% strike rate in the grade.

So to us in T2 - this type of race will suit our running style as we are strong and the other four in the field all have early pace and they all can't lead so I see them cutting each other's throats while we come from the back of the field to pick these runners up.

At the last few meetings the inside runners have been on top and I see that continuing this afternoon - another positive for us. Strong selection.
