Friday Greyhounds Tips: Two picks to watch out for

20:56 Sunderland - T3 (Toddy's Tank) @ SP 

This is a dual distance mini-competition and by the looks of all the other 17 runners we have an excellent opportunity to not only win tonight but to win the final next week. So much potential in trials we just need to make sure we can repeat that on races as this will be our second race in this country after arriving a while back from Ireland but we did blitz at Cork in an impressive time of 28.55. Second start at track, nothing in this race could get anywhere near that time.

This is how I see this sprint race being run:

T1 - This D3 runner won last week and broke 16 seconds, normally a little way off that time and will 100% struggle with the quality of opposition tonight.

T2 - Will edge off as drawn as normally runs middle but this four-bend performer hasn't really done much racing recently over two bends and maybe tapped for a yard of speed straight away.

T4 - Ex-Oxford runner, who has been here a while and spent most of that time running over four bends. Will this drop to two bends suit? Unsure. I believe the trainer is hoping to qualify in a place and then the final will be over four bends next week.  

T5 - Again another four-bend type, this time a grade A4 runner, did win at odds-on latest but this race a completely different kettle of fish, can't see her laying up with us in the early paced department.

T6 - Rates our main danger as is the best of these over the four-bend trip and does have open experience but I feel will be second in to us in a clean-run contest, if it becomes a crowded race then this one can pick up the pieces.

So to us in T3, we are a sprinter against four-bend dogs so we should really have this race wrapped up by bend one, being the only true early-paced type. We can win this before going on to win the final next week. Very solid selection.

18:29 Harlow - T4 (Jake's World) @ SP  

We look to have a guilt-edged opportunity this evening to finally get off the mark in this D5 contest, been eye-catching in all runs so far and we can go one better tonight and record our maiden victory before going on to better things and grade.

How I see this sprint race being run: 

T1 - She has won two of her last three runs in the grade but an overall record of six wins from 33 attempts in the grade is uninspiring but saving grace is that she is in form. Not the best trapper but does have good early pace into the corner, I'm hoping we are clear of the field at that point to stop any crowding. 

T2 - One good time three runs back but she is normally very slowly away and that isn’t something you want on a sprint race, you need to be away and gone and for that point I would pass on this rival.

T3 - Will want the rails so will edge across both T1 and T2 on the run-up and crowd and spoil both their races, this does give us more room on his outside to pace up and avoid this, as for form and times a bit off these and the likely outsider. 

T5 - Debut tonight so could be anything, trials ok, nothing stood out to me really, just consistent and I feel could miss the up first run but either way one to note for future races.

T6 - Stepped back down from four bends latest to two, led but got picked up on the run-in. I see us and this runner leading these round and us just having enough in the tank close home to hold on.

So to us in T4, we break level we will have enough early pace to clear the inside three runners and go round under T6. T5 an unknown but I see us also getting first run on that runner, we can avoid crowding at the bend and pull right away on the run in for our first victory. Excellent choice and solid selection.
