PSG vs Tottenham Hotspur Bet Builder: 25/1 shot for Super Cup

The Uefa Super Cup comes our way on Wednesday night and we’re all excited to see Thomas Frank’s Tottenham Hotspur in competitive action for the first time. He couldn’t have been handed a harder test, as they face Champions League holders PSG at the Stadio Friuli in Udine (20:00 BST, TNT Sports 1).

PSG to win

Even though I believe Frank will do well at Spurs, we just can’t back him to win this Super Cup final. They’ve made some great additions, including Joao Palhinha and Mohammed Kudus, with a move for Eberechi Eze now also looking likely - but they are nowhere near PSG right now. 

Let’s not forget, this group of players finished 17th in the Premier League last term while PSG romped to Champions League success. Many critics will point out that the French side were well-beaten in the Club World Cup final by Chelsea, but that tournament was strange from start to finish and I just feel they will be back to their best here.

Luis Enrique sets such high standards for this squad that I think they will kick their campaign off with more silverware. The team to beat in Europe right now should be able to dominate a Spurs outfit still finding their feet.

Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue to score

Two key attackers for PSG should be able to find the net against a side that conceded 65 Premier League goals last season. I know a lot of that was down to Ange Postecoglou and injuries but still, PSG should be able to score a fair few goals against them. 

Ousmane Dembele, favourite for the Ballon d’Or, scored 35 goals in 53 games last season and is now the biggest threat at the club. He’s also one of the biggest threats in world football and I think he should have a field day with this Spurs defence. Meanwhile, Desire Doue had a breakout season with 16 goals and 16 assists, and I also think he will be another major threat for PSG in Italy.

These two will take some stopping.

Joao Palhinha and Cristian Romero to get booked

Two bookings now from a Spurs perspective and let’s start with the obvious one, Cristian Romero. He got nine yellows last term, more than any other Spurs player in 2024/25, and he’s going to have to get stuck in if Tottenham are going to stop this vibrant PSG attack.

They break with pace and the defensive unit are going to have to make smart tactical fouls in order to keep them at bay. Joao Palhinha is my next selection having picked up 27 yellows in 68 Premier League appearances during his time at Fulham. He is a combative midfielder who should get some game time in this one after his summer move, and he is a likely candidate to pick up a yellow as well.
