Liverpool vs Brentford Prediction: Bees to spoil Salah’s farewell?

Liverpool must get at least a point on the final day to guarantee Champions League football next term, although with their strong goal difference it would take a serious collapse for Bournemouth to surpass them into fifth.
Their opponents Brentford (4pm, Sky Sports+) also have European football on the line, as they sit level on points with Chelsea and just one point behind Brighton in seventh. Read on for my Liverpool vs Brentford predictions.

Team News
Giorgi Mamardashvilli should start in goal with Alisson unlikely to be risked at this stage of the season. He is in Brazil’s World Cup squad and has only just returned from a hamstring injury. The main focus will be on Mo Salah and Andy Robertson, who are both surely going to start in their final matches for the club.
Arne Slot’s relationship with Salah has been frosty to say the least, but he will surely get his final farewell. Jeremie Frimpong may drop back to right back if Salah does start, with Alexander Isak only just returning to training and likely to miss out. Brentford’s Rico Henry will not feature on Merseyside, while Fabio Carvalho and Antoni Milambo remain sidelined due to ACL injuries.
Keith Andrews will start Dango Outtara on the right after his brace against Crystal Palace, while Igor Thiago will look to add to his 22 goals this season.
Liverpool vs Brentford Predicted Lineups
- Liverpool: Mamardashvili; Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Wirtz; Gakpo
- Brentford: Kelleher; Kayode, Ajer, Collins, Lewis-Potter; Janelt, Yarmolyiuk; Ouattara, Damsgaard, Jensen; Thiago
Liverpool are 4/5 to win this game, giving them an implied win probability of 55%, while Brentford are out at 3/1 for the win, and the draw is the same price.
Over 2.5 goals and BTTS are both 1/2. You can find more odds on the link above.
Liverpool vs Brentford Stats
- Liverpool have picked up one point from their last three
- Brentford have lost two in 10
Double Chance - Draw or Brentford @ 19/20
I don’t want to be a Debbie downer when it comes to Liverpool’s big farewell for Salah and Robertson, but Brentford are so dangerous as an opponent for this final day, and they have so much to play for.
They will be going all out to avoid defeat and I get the vibe that this may take on a bit of a testimonial feel for the Reds. Slot isn’t popular right now and Liverpool have picked up just one point from their last three league games. Brentford have only lost away at both Manchester clubs in their last 10 PL games and I can’t see Liverpool beating them here.

Mo Salah to score anytime @ 5/4
That testimonial vibe I was on about for Liverpool? With nothing seriously on the line, I feel the Reds will just be doing everything in their power to give one of their greatest ever players a farewell goal. Slot doesn’t like him, but the Liverpool fans adore their Egyptian king, and the Anfield crowd deserve to see him score again.
I think both teams are going to score on Sunday and Salah is going to be the centre of attention at Anfield. I think he gets the goal the crowd will be begging for.
