Norway vs France Odds

Over 3.5 goals

Goals are surely the order of the day in Boston. We’ve seen Norway score seven goals in their two matches so far, while France have hit six in their two Group I encounters. Now the pair meet in what should be a belting clash to decide who finishes top.

They both have six points, but Ismaila Sarr’s late goal against Norway meant that France hold a better goal difference by one. That means that a draw will be enough for the French to secure top spot, while Norway need all three points to get that easier knockout tie.

Despite both sides having already progressed, this pair should go at each other with full force given top spot is up for grabs. There should be at least four goals in this one, as there has been in all four Group I games so far.

Erling Haaland to score

What more needs to be said about Erling Haaland. The guy is seemingly unstoppable in front of goal, notching two braces so far at the World Cup, and he sits just one goal behind the great Lionel Messi.

Fifty-nine Norway goals in 52 international appearances is obscene and it doesn’t look like there is any stopping him this summer either. He looked so sharp against a strong Senegal team, and I think he will relish the challenge of coming up against a fancied French outfit. France haven’t yet been put to the test defensively, so it will be a fun watch to see them try and handle Haaland. I think he’s set to score.

Kylian Mbappe to score

Same as above really. Haaland and Kylian Mbappe have gone toe-to-toe this tournament scoring two braces apiece, and they are hunting down a little GOAT at the top of the goalscoring charts.

Mbappe’s World Cup pedigree is outrageous, with 16 World Cup goals taking him level with former record holder Miroslav Klose. He will catch Lionel Messi at some stage, possibly even during this World Cup, and has 60 goals in 100 France appearances.

One of the best World Cup players ever - and he’s only 27. Mbappe should be able to get his fifth goal of the tournament against Norway.

France to win

I’m going to back France to come out on the right side of this blockbuster. I don’t think Norway’s defence has been properly rocked yet, and Didier Deschamps will want to make sure his team top the group.

I know they only need a point but their quality is simply undeniable and I cannot see this Norway side, who conceded twice against Senegal, being able to keep France at bay.
