Hull City have been underdogs all season. The Tigers were expected by many to have another season of struggle after narrowly avoiding relegation to League 1 last term. Sergej Jakirovic and his players have defied all expectations - and data throughout the campaign - to reach the most expensive game in football.

The Tigers were the lowest-ranked side in the play-offs so they had to face Millwall, who finished third. Hull booked their place in the final because of an excellent professional 2-0 victory away from home.

They will be hoping that their underdog story can carry them through one more time against Southampton.

The Saints had a rocky start despite being one of the favourites to gain promotion having been relegated from the Premier League in 2024/25.

Will Still only lasted a few months and Tonda Eckert is the man who has guided them to one match away from a return to the promised land, overcoming Middlesbrough with a 2-1 victory on aggregate.

Here are all the key details regarding the 2025/26 Championship play-off final.
