Derby County need to finish strongly in the Championship this season if they are to break into the play-offs, with a five-point gap between themselves and Hull City in sixth.

Next up they host an Oxford United side (12:30 BST, Sky Sports+) battling to stay in the division. Below you can find my Derby vs Oxford predictions featuring team news and betting tips.

Team News

Derby will be without Patrick Agyemang for the rest of the season and beyond after his serious Achilles injury. That rules him out of the World Cup for the USA and you have to feel for the forward, after a sparkling first season in England.

Carlton Morris will lead the line in his absence, but there’s more bad news for John Eustace. Bobby Clark has also been ruled out for the season and will only feature again if the Rams finish in the top six.

Oxford are still without Brian De Keersmaecker and Greg Leigh but Matt Bloomfield could just name an unchanged XI after an impressive 2-0 win over Watford last time out.

Will Lankshear started up front and could be swapped out for late goalscorer Mark Harris, but other than that, I wouldn’t expect any changes. Ole Romeny returned to the squad against Watford and should be an option from the bench again.

Today's Football Fixtures

Double Chance - Oxford or Draw @ 4/5

I’m going to back the in-form away side to come away with something at Pride Park. Bloomfield’s side have been very good since he came in - and it’s now just one defeat in their last eight games as they look to fight their way out of the bottom three.

That defeat came against Southampton, who have been on a remarkable run of their own as they charge towards the top two. The turnaround has been impressive but there is still plenty of work to be done with others at the bottom in form.

Derby have won their last five home games in a row and are strong, but I would back Oxford to get at least a point given their upturn in form.

Brodie Spencer to get booked @ 15/8

Brodie Spencer should start at left-back for the visitors and I like the look of him to pick up another card. He’s been booked twice in his last four appearances for the U’s and that has taken his tally up to six for the season, not bad when you consider he has only made 26 appearances due to injuries.

I think Derby will look to attack Oxford from the off, with Jayson Banel potentially a tricky customer on the right wing. I think Spencer will get caught out at some point, and so I will back him to pick up another booking.
