Championship Predictions: Coventry on course to seal promotion

We’ve got a jam-packed Championship schedule coming our way this weekend, and as usual, myself, Nick and Conor are predicting the results.
With the season hotting up and plenty still to be decided at both ends of the table, the pressure really is on. Below you can find our Championship Predictions for Gameweek 42.

- QPR 0-1 Bristol City @ 17/2

- Southampton 3-0 Derby @ 14/1

West Brom 1-2 Millwall @ 10/1
Millwall may have lost at home to Norwich last time out in a dent to their automatic promotion hopes, but they’ve been sensational away from home recently, winning five and drawing one of their last six. That draw came at Portman Road, while we can count wins at promotion-chasing Middlesbrough, Hull and Wrexham during that time.
West Brom have improved and are unbeaten in six, but Millwall can get back to winning ways here.
Nick: 1-2
Conor: 1-2
QPR 0-1 Bristol City @ 17/2
Roy Hodgson wins games of football. Two on the bounce since he took charge at Ashton Gate has given the Robins a boost, and although QPR have impressively picked up 10 points from their last four - I just think their inconsistency will come back to bite them at the weekend.
Nick: 1-2
Conor: 1-1
Coventry 3-0 Sheff Wed @ 13/2
Four more points will see Coventry confirmed as a Premier League team next season, but given their superb goal difference, three points against Sheffield Wednesday should do it. Other results may fall their way to boot, and we can expect a bit of a CBS party on Saturday.
Nick: 5-0
Conor: 3-0
Norwich 3-1 Ipswich @ 22/1
The East Anglian Derby is set to be a belter this Saturday lunchtime as in-form Norwich welcome old rivals Ipswich to Carrow Road. The Canaries have been one of the best three teams in the league since Philippe Clement took over - matching Ipswich’s points tally and sitting just one point behind Coventry during that time period.
As a result, I think they can knock Ipswich’s promotion bid off track with another impressive home win. It’s 20 years since the Tractor Boys won at Carrow Road, and I think that run will continue this weekend.

Oxford 1-0 Watford @ 13/2
Oxford have everything to play for. Watford have nothing to play for. Points are all that matters for the U’s right now, and after drawing 2-2 at Portsmouth, I’m backing them to edge out Watford at home.
Nick: 1-0
Conor: 2-0
Leicester 1-1 Swansea @ 6/1
Leicester have got themselves in a right pickle. They managed to rescue a draw late on against bottom club Sheffield Wednesday but their hopes of staying in the second tier now rest on what they can produce over the final five games.
Swansea boast the league’s top scorer in Zan Vipotnik, but their away form hasn’t been great - so I’ll back a 1-1.
Nick: 1-2
Conor: 0-1
Stoke 0-0 Blackburn @ 15/2
I dunno. Stoke are pretty bad right now and manager Mark Robins could do with a strong end to the season. Blackburn are picking up points to take them closer to safety, and a draw might suit them nicely here again.
Nick: 0-2
Conor: 1-1
Southampton 3-0 Derby @ 14/1
The best team in Europe right now? A bit of a stretch perhaps but Tonda Eckert’s men are absolutely flying. 16 unbeaten, a 5-1 midweek away win at Wrexham and now in the top six, with an FA Cup semi-final to come - it would be foolish to back against the Saints right now.
Nick: 2-0
Conor: 4-0

Middlesbrough 2-1 Portsmouth @ 7/1
Middlesbrough are also in a sticky patch right now, winless in five as their top two hopes have taken a hit. Pompey rescued a point against Oxford with ten men and need to start picking up wins to get out of trouble, but I see Boro hitting the reset button and getting over the line with a hard-fought win.
Nick: 2-0
Conor: 2-1
Sheffield United 1-1 Hull @ 7/1
Sheffield United aren’t good to watch right now, and while Hull are trying to nail down a play-off place, I’m sitting on the fence for this one and backing another draw.
Nick: 2-1
Conor: 1-1
Charlton 2-0 Preston @ 10/1
Charlton can break the 50-point barrier with a win here, and I think they will get it up against a Preston side that has only won once in the last 10 outings.
Nick: 1-0
Conor: 1-0
Birmingham 1-2 Wrexham @ 10/1
This one is live on Sky, of course, but Birmingham have fallen off a cliff recently. Their play-off hopes ended a few weeks back and now it is a question of whether they stick or twist with manager Chris Davies heading into next season.
Wrexham took a hammering from Southampton on Tuesday but are still in the play-off race and should edge this close encounter.
Nick: 3-3
Conor: 1-3
