Antoine Griezmann (muscle) appears to be Atletico Madrid's only injury absentee on Wednesday.

Diego Simeone could make a few changes to the lineup that started Sunday's 3-0 victory over Real Mallorca, with Matteo Ruggeri, Koke and Thiago Almada all eyeing promotions from the bench.

So, backing both sides to notch on Wednesday is the obvious selection, but to see a more sizeable return, I’m adding in the hosts to win.

As previously stated, Atletico have won all three home games in this year’s competition, beating Eintracht Frankfurt (5-1), Union Saint-Gilloise (3-1) and Inter Milan (2-1), an aggregate of 10-3.

Bodo/Glimt have drawn twice on their league-phase travels, holding Slavia Prague and Borussia Dortmund to 2-2 stalemates either side of a 3-1 loss to Turkish giants Galatasaray, but they may be more vulnerable on Wednesday as they need to win and hope other results go their way to jump up into the top 24.

That will be music to the ears of Atletico, who have already qualified for the play-offs and can afford to play a more patient game.

Of course, there is an expectation that Atletico will win on Wednesday, especially given they are at home against a side in their first Champions League campaign, and with a top-eight finish in sight.

But Simeone knows that his team doesn’t need to go gung-ho from the beginning, and their opponents’ greater need to win could create several counter-attack opportunities; you’d expect his side to profit from at least one or two.

Bjorkan is averaging 1.2 fouls and one foul won per game, respectively, in the UCL league phase. The Norwegian has committed at least one foul in three of his five outings and drawn a foul in the same number.
