It's the Second ODI at North Sound starting at 13:30 on Saturday with live broadcast on TNT Sports.

Jamie Pacheco is fresh from a 6/1 winner from his two bets on Thursday and looking to build on that with selections at 11/2, 13/2 and 14/1 ahead of this one as he goes through his West Indies vs England Predictions in his full match preview for us here at Betfred Insights...

West Indies vs England 2nd ODI Betting Tips

  • 1pt Roston Chase to be West Indies Top Bowler @ 11/2
  • 0.5pts Jacob Bethell to be England Top Batsman @ 13/2
  • 0.5pts Sam Curran to be England Top Batsman @ 14/1

West Indies

A strong performance from the West Indies with the ball in dismissing England for 209 with five overs of the 50 still to go. Jayden Seales did the early damage by dismissing the two openers before Alzarri Joseph chipped in with two of his own and Gudakesh Motie did the rest, ending up with four.

In reply, Evin Lewis was in the mood and wanted to wrap things up quickly. And he did. His 94 off 69 meant the result was never in doubt as long as they got their 20 overs in after some rain, which they did.

So good all-round performances from most and they'll be particularly happy with their bowling on the day but it's a little bit of a worry that they don't seem to have a sixth bowler. If someone struggles next time, they may have a bit of a problem on their hands.

Given this match is at the same venue, it would make sense to play the same team.

Possible XI: King, Lewis, Carty, Hope, Rutherford, Hetmyer, Chase, Motie, A Joseph, Forde, Seales.

England

A poor performance from this new-look England team that included committing the great sin of limited-overs cricket: not batting your full allocation of overs.

Another lesser one is to not kick on after making starts, something all of the Top 5 were guilty of. Having done the hard work of playing themselves in, there was always one big rash shot that led to a poor dismissal.

Still, it played into our hands because after the Top 3 got themselves out, the path was paved for Liam Livingstone to make his experience and class count and his 48 was enough to secure us an excellent 6/1 winner, as we had him for England top bat. Sam Curran threatened our fun with a well-made 37 but got out when we needed him to.

But let's not be too harsh on England. The whole point of picking a youthful squad is to give players experience and see who can cut it at this level so it would be churlish to criticise just because they lost the match.

One of Saqib Mahmood or Rehan Ahmed or both could come in for Jofra Archer, who rarely plays two matches in a row, or John Turner.

Possible XI: Salt, Jacks, Cox, Livingstone, Bethell, Mousley, Curran, Overton, Ahmed/ Archer, Rashid, Turner/Mahmood.

Pitch and conditions

It was a pitch that never looked particularly easy to bat on when England were at it but looked pretty flat when Evin Lewis was making hay.

West Indies generally prefer to chase, so if the toss goes their way, that's probably what they'll do. England? Hard to say.

England's 209 was clearly below par last time out with 260-270 roughly what the side batting first will aim for.

West Indies vs England 2nd ODI Odds

West Indies were 5/4 last time out and are 11/10 (implied probability 47.6%) this time round. So, they've taken a little bit of a cut which is understandable given they won the first one pretty convincingly.

England are out to 8/11 (57.9%) from 8/13.

It's not hard to argue the Windies are the better price of the two. They're missing some important players of their own, but they look up for it and have a handful of players who know these conditions very well. I won't make them one of my bets, but I wouldn't talk anyone out of backing the hosts, either.

West Indies Top Bowler

I've already talked about how there is a strong chance that the Windies will play the same team again, which means they'll only field five bowlers, unless Sherfane Rutherford gets through a couple of overs.

And if that's the case, Roston Chase looks a big price at 11/2.

Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie (both 11/4) are justified favourites but I'm not sure Chase should be almost twice the price of those two.

Following my theory, he'll bowl the same 10 overs as the others and this is a wicket that takes spin as demonstrated by Motie's superb performance, so he'll be in business here. He was admittedly the only bowler who went wicketless on Thursday but that helped in terms of him being such a big price this time and as we know, no two matches are the same. Chase it is.

England Top Batsman

Livingstone has been cut from 6/1 to 5/1 which is understandable after winning on Thursday, as we know. By the way, the skipper is also a big-looking 9/1 for Top Bowler. If you'd backed him at a similar price ahead of the first match you would have got paid out at half the odds as he and Rashid were the only players to take a wicket, so that would have been a decent profit on Livingstone, the bowler.

But for top bat honours, I'm going with the 'Bangladesh two-card trick here'. Jacob Bethell batted at four on Thursday getting a good 27 off 33 while Sam Curran batted at six and got 37 off 56, somewhat pedestrian by his standards but a decent contribution, nonetheless.

Given this is a wicket where you never really feel like you're in (unless you're Evin Lewis), early wickets could well be on the cards and they both bat high enough to give you a good run for your money.

Crucially, they're big prices at 13/2 and 14/1 respectively so as we know, we only need one of these to come in now and then for the strategy to be profitable.
