Mumbai Indians face a must‑win clash against an in‑form Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday night (15:00 BST, Sky Sports Cricket) as the five‑time champions attempt to salvage an IPL campaign that is rapidly slipping away.

MI have lost five of their last six matches, leaving them ninth in the table and under mounting pressure. Sunrisers, meanwhile, have surged into third after four straight victories, including a five‑wicket win over Rajasthan on Saturday powered by Ishan Kishan's blistering 74 from 31 balls.

With Wankhede Stadium expected to be full and the red‑soil pitch primed for runs, this could be one of the defining fixtures of Mumbai's season.

MI vs SRH Odds

Mumbai Indians are 4/5 favourites at home while SRH, at 1/1, arrive with all the momentum and the most explosive powerplay batting in the league.

It’s 11/10 for MI to hit the most sixes and 4/5 for SRH to accumulate the highest first six overs score.

Team News

Mumbai’s preparations have centred around the possible return of Rohit Sharma, who has missed their last three matches with a hamstring issue.

His comeback would be a major boost for a side that has looked short of stability at the top of the order, with Danish Malewar scoring just two runs across his last two innings.

Hardik Pandya is expected to stay at No. 6, with Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav forming the middle‑order core.

Ashwani Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah will again take the new‑ball responsibilities, while Mitchell Santner has been replaced by fellow left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj after injuring his shoulder last time out.

Sunrisers have no reason to tinker with a winning formula. Pat Cummins came into the XI in Jaipur and impressed with 1‑27 from four overs.

Their top order - Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen - is in irresistible form, and the bowling attack continues to be led superbly by Eshan Malinga, who is joint‑highest wicket‑taker with 14.

Suryakumar Yadav over 28.5 runs @ 5/6

Although he has been unable to capitalise on some promising starts lately, Suryakumar Yadav remains MI’s most reliable batter at Wankhede Stadium.

His average of 41.08 at the venue is significantly better than his overall IPL average of 34, partly because of his ability to redirect pace on the bouncier red-soil wicket.

SRH's attack has conceded multiple 30+ scores in each of their last two matches, and SKY’s ability to dominate quick bowling on this surface makes him well‑placed to pass this line.

Away Team 1st 6 overs +62.5 @ 5/6

SRH's powerplay dominance has been one of the defining features of their season. They have scored a league‑leading 542 powerplay runs with 426 boundary runs inside the first six overs.

Opener Abhishek is striking at over 200 in this phase and, if he starts well again, even a Bumrah-led MI attack is unlikely to contain SRH to below 63 runs in the powerplay.

SRH average 67.75 runs in the opening phase this year and their ultra-aggressive approach should thrive on a batter‑friendly Wankhede pitch.
