It’s 1-1 in the four-match ODI series between the 2019 World Cup finalists and next up on Wednesday, we move to the Oval. We’ve previewed the match and given you our best bets for the occasion.

England vs New Zealand 3rd ODI Tips

  • New Zealand to win – 17/10
  • David Willey top England wicket taker – 18/5

England (4/9) tied up the series at the Rose Bowl, after a terrific knock from Liam Livingstone (95*) pulled the hosts back from the brink at 8/3 and then 55/5.

Jos Buttler’s men made 226 off a shortened 34 overs and then bowled New Zealand (17/10) out for a miserly 147.

Left arm openers David Willey and Reece Topley did the brunt of the damage and will be looking to do similar in Surrey.

For the Black Caps, it was great to see Trent Boult back from his international retirement after a 300-day hiatus and he responded with a brilliant triple salvo at the top of the England order.

Team news:

England were forced to make changes in both the opening games, due to injuries to Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow and Adil Rashid so it’s hard to predict what will be their starting XI here.

New Zealand seem to be sticking with a more settled outfit ahead of the World Cup and will definitely keep faith with Boult after his Southampton heroics.

New Zealand to win – 17/10

The two sides are locked at three-apiece over the last six white ball games and there really isn’t a lot between the two sides.

New Zealand at 17/10 with the quality in their side, especially with the ball, is way too long in a two horse race.

The addition of Boult with the new ball is a real leveller and makes England’s makeshift opening pair look extremely vulnerable.

There is always the chance one of England’s gun batters will do something magical, like Livingstone at the Rose Bowl, but I’m going to go with the percentages here and take the Black Caps.

David Willey top England wicket taker – 18/5

The left arm swing bowler was the unfortunate man who was dropped on the eve of the last World Cup but surely he will be taken this time?

The Northamptonshire man continues to be one of the few men in international cricket who can consistently swing the new white ball and with the Kookaburra swinging more than ever, it’s become an essential skill.

Willey tops England’s bowling figures in this series with four for 4-66 and he should be amongst the wickets again here.
