Auxerre vs PSG Prediction: A competitive contest at the Stade de l’Abbe-Deschamps

Paris Saint-Germain picked up a vital three points at home to Lille OSC (3-0) last Friday to keep pace with Ligue 1 leaders RC Lens, who beat AJ Auxerre (1-0) less than 24 hours later. When it rains, it pours for relegation-threatened Auxerre, who this Friday (19:00 GMT, Ligue 1 Pass), host reigning French league and European champions PSG at the Stade de l'Abbe-Deschamps.
Below are my Auxerre vs PSG predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds, as Luis Enrique's star-studded side aim to do the double over Christophe Pelissier's charges, following their 2-0 win at the Parc des Princes in September.

Team News
Left-back Gideon Mensah and midfielder Elisha Owusu are back from yellow-card suspensions, with both likely to be restored to the Auxerre starting XI on Friday.
Francisco Sierralta (unspecified) and Nathan Buayi-Kiala (ACL) are still sidelined, though.
Ibrahim Osman, who spent the first half of the season on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, is now at Birmingham City on a temporary deal, but Auxerre recently brought in Romain Favire on loan from AFC Bournemouth, and after coming off the bench last week, he could make his first start for the club here.
PSG suffered a 2-1 defeat at Sporting CP in the Uefa Champions League on Tuesday, and Luis Enrique is likely to make changes to his starting XI for Friday's fixture.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ilya Zabarnyi could both earn promotions from the bench, but Achraf Hakimi, who hasn't played for PSG since November 4, owing to an injury and his participation at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, misses out alongside fellow full-back Nuno Mendes (both fitness).
Joao Neves (muscle), Fabian Ruiz (knee), Lee Kang-in (thigh) and Matvey Safonov (hand) are on the treatment table.
Auxerre vs PSG Predicted Lineups
- Auxerre: Leon; Sy, Akpa, Diomande, Senaya, Mensah; El Azzouzi, Ahamada; Faivre; Namoso, Sinayoko
- Lorient: Chevalier; Zabarnyi, Beraldo, Pacho Hernandez; Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Mayulu; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia
Auxerre, who have suffered three consecutive Ligue 1 defeats - four in all competitions - are 17/2, or a 10.5% chance, to secure their first victory in this head-to-head since March 2011, when Claude Makelele and Ludovic Guily were among Les Parisiens' starters.
Friday's visitors are 3/10 (76.9%) to bounce back from their midweek defeat in Lisbon, with the draw offered at 9/2.
Auxerre vs PSG Stats
- All six of AJA's home defeats this season have been by a one-goal margin
- PSG won September's H2H 2-0
Handicap -2 - Auxerre +2 @ 9/10
After suffering an early exit in the Coupe de France, losing 1-0 at home to neighbours Paris FC, PSG returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Lille last Friday, but they were brought back down to earth again on Tuesday as Sporting sent them back to France without a point.
That defeat means PSG have only won five of their last 11 games in regulation time, and one of those triumphs was in the Coupe de France at fifth-tier Fontenay (0-4).
Two of those victories in that run, a 3-2 success at FC Metz and a 2-1 home win against Paris FC, both in Ligue 1, have been by a single goal, too.
Auxerre have lost their last four matches across all competitions, including their last three in Ligue 1, but three of those defeats have been by a one-goal margin, and eight of their 13 losses this season have seen them miss out on a point by a single strike.
So, Auxerre are rarely dismantled, and all six of their home defeats in 2025/26 have been by a single goal.
Given PSG's problems recently, I think that the hosts can make things competitive on Friday and lose by no more than one goal.

Total Goals - Under 2.5 @ 13/8
Six of Auxerre's last eight Ligue 1 games, including both this month, have stayed under 2.5 goals, and five of their nine at home have gone that way.
Five of PSG's nine away trips in Ligue 1 have featured two or fewer goals, with Les Parisiens blanking twice on their travels this term.
September's reverse fixture produced just two goals, and at 13/8, I think we're getting good value for Friday's meeting to go under 2.5, too.
