Inter Milan vs Monaco Prediction: Hosts to secure knockout place

Inter Milan will welcome Monaco to San Siro on Wednesday night (20:00, live on TNT Sports 9) on matchday eight of the Uefa Champions League, with both sides still hoping to automatically qualify for the knockout phase.
The hosts currently sit third in the standings so their fate is in their own hands, while Monaco will be hoping for other results to go their way while also picking up a positive one themselves in Milan. Read on for my Inter Milan vs Monaco prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.
Inter Milan vs Monaco Betting Tips
Team News
Hakan Calhanoglu will miss out for the hosts due to a calf injury, as will Joaquin Correa, while Francesco Acerbi is nursing a hamstring problem.
The likes of Nicolo Barella and Federico Dimarco were rested in Inter's 4-0 win over Lecce at the weekend, so they'll no doubt return to the fold here.
As for Monaco, new signing Mika Biereth hasn't been registered to the Champions League squad, while Folarin Balogun and George Ilenikhena are both in the treatment room.
Denis Zakaria was forced off early at the weekend, so he remains a doubt for the trip to Italy.
Inter are 3/5 favourites for the game, giving them an implied win probability of 62.5%, with the draw currently available at 16/5, and a Monaco win is 9/2.
Lautaro Martinez tops the anytime goalscorer market at 6/5, while Breel Embolo is shortest-priced for the visitors at 11/4.
Inter Milan to win to nil @ 9/5
Inter are in a comfortable position heading into matchday eight, and a draw should be enough to see them qualify automatically for the last 16.
I Nerazzurri face a tricky test in the form of Monaco, who were 1-0 winners last Tuesday against Aston Villa, and a win by two clear goals here will move the visitors above Inter, and assure them of a place directly in the next round. However, the French side have only won one of their last 10 outings away from home in the Champions League.
In addition, Inter should be a cut above their opponents on Wednesday night, as they've claimed five wins from their seven European encounters this term, conceding just one goal. Simone Inzaghi’s men are seriously tough to break down, as also emphasised by the fact they have conceded only 18 goals in 21 Serie A fixtures.
Monaco failed to score in their last Champions League away day against Arsenal, so I'm backing a home win to nil on Wednesday night.

Lautaro Martinez to score anytime @ 6/5
Martinez appears to have got back into the groove of things for the hosts, having scored in six of his last eight appearances across all competitions.
The 27-year-old has struck twice in this season's Champions League, including in the 1-0 win over Sparta Prague last time out.
I think he's a decent price at 6/5 to score anytime on Wednesday night and take his tally for the season up to 13 goals.
