Lille vs Feyenoord Prediction: Canadian to catch visitors cold in France

Locked on 13 points, the same as four other clubs, Lille (12th) and Feyenoord (11th) meet at the former's Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Wednesday evening (20:00, discovery+) with a direct ticket to the last 16 up for grabs as both bid to avoid the Uefa Champions League knockout phase play-offs.
Below is my Lille vs Feyenoord prediction, complete with all the latest team news and match odds, ahead of this league phase game in Villeneuve d'Asq, France.
Lille vs Feyenoord Betting Tips
Team News
Lille captain Benjamin Andre is serving a one-game ban for an accumulation of yellow cards in the competition so he will sit out Wednesday's contest alongside Aissa Mandi, who is also suspended following his sending off in last Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.
Edon Zhegrova (groin), Tiago Santos, Samuel Umtiti (both knee), Ismaily (calf), Mathias Fernandez-Pardo (ankle) and Nabil Bentaleb (heart) are also sidelined for the French side.
Star striker Jonathan David, whose goal on Merseyside last week was his fifth of the league phase, returns to the fold alongside Brazilian defender Alexsandro, with both players suspended for Les Dogues' 2-1 defeat to Strasbourg in Ligue 1 last Friday.
Quilindschy Hartman, Quinten Timber (both knee), Hwang In-beom, Ramiz Zerrouki, Gjivai Zechiel (all unspecified) and Jordan Lotomba (leg) are expected to miss out for the visitors, while Calvin Stengs (muscular) is a doubt after being withdrawn in the 50th minute of last Wednesday's 3-0 win over Bayern Munich.
Mexican centre-forward Santiago Gimenez bagged a brace in that victory, netting his third and fourth league phase goals in just his fourth Champions League appearance this season, and he is expected to lead the line again for Brian Priske's side.
Lille's 21-game unbeaten run was brought to an end on Merseyside last week and was followed four days later by another defeat, yet they are still fancied as favourites on Wednesday, with odds of 11/10 implying a win probability of 47.6%. Meanwhile, Feyenoord, who beat Bayern handsomely in Rotterdam, are 12/5, or a 29.4% chance, to claim a third success in four on their European travels having beaten Girona (2-3) and Benfica (1-3) in their first two away outings.
Feyenoord's third match away from Rotterdam saw the Eredivisie outfit come from three goals down to draw 3-3, and you can back another stalemate on Wednesday at 11/4.
David (23/20) heads the anytime goalscorer market followed by Gimenez (7/4).
Double Chance & Both Teams to Score - Lille or Draw & Yes @ 11/10
Lille lost twice in the space of 72 hours last week but it should be noted that both defeats were suffered away from the Stade Pierre Mauroy where they have lost just once this season, 1-3 against reigning French champions and Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain on September 1.
Les Dogues have won two of their three home games in the league phase, beating Real Madrid (1-0) and Sturm Graz (3-2) either side of a 1-1 draw with Juventus.
Just as Lille have picked up seven points at home, though, Feyenoord have claimed seven on their travels, despite facing tough tests at the Estadio da Luz and the Etihad against Benfica and Manchester City respectively.
A comprehensive win over Bayern last time out has also restored confidence following a run of just victory in four games, and they were given the weekend off which has allowed Priske's players to fully recover and prepare themselves for the trip to Villeneuve d'Ascq.
This looks like it could be a closely contested game in France so I'm reluctant to pick a winner, but I do believe the hosts will avoid defeat given their record at home this season.
To up the odds, I'm backing both teams to score alongside the double chance result on Lille. BTTS - Yes has been a winner in Lille's last five league phase matches, including their last two at home, and five of Feyenoord's last six, including all three away from Rotterdam.
Both teams are assured of a place in the knockout phase play-offs while it's highly likely that each will have to win to stand any chance of breaking into the top eight. Therefore, I don't expect an overly cautious encounter to take place, which opens up the possibility of at least a goal on either side.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
First Goalscorer - Jonathan David (LIL) @ 7/2
David has been instrumental in Lille's European success this season, opening the scoring in the home leg of their play-off victory over Slavia Prague before netting five times in his first seven league phase appearances (six starts), two of which have been the game's first - or only - goal (v Real Madrid and Juventus).
The 25-year-old, who is expected to leave Les Dogues upon the expiration of his contract this summer, has also struck 11 times in 18 Ligue 1 appearances (15 starts) this season.
In all competitions, David has opened the scoring on eight occasions, and having been afforded a week's rest due to a suspension served in the French top flight, he should be raring to go from the off on Wednesday.
Feyenoord have conceded first in four of their seven league phase games this season and could be caught cold by the Canadian in France.
