Celtic beat Aberdeen

We begin at Hampden, where Celtic play Aberdeen from 12:30 GMT in a semi-final broadcast live on television. The Dons reached the final of the League Cup before losing 1-0 to Rangers in a tight match and they’ll hope to battle past last season’s Scottish Cup winners to guarantee another big day at the national stadium. But we can’t see past a Celtic win.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are top of the Premiership following a four-match unbeaten run. They have vital experience of what it takes to win this trophy and have dominated in recent years. Trust the Hoops to add another win and progress to the decider against the winner of Rangers vs Hearts played on Sunday.

Rangers beat Hearts

Rangers make the short trip to Hampden for Sunday’s semi-final under increasing pressure, and their season is in danger of spiralling out of control. They have already claimed the League Cup and catapulted themselves back into contention for the Premiership title but have suffered a damaging drop in form at a costly time of the season.

Rangers are winless in their last three but have dominated against Hearts this season, enjoying an 11-2 aggregate score after four meetings. They beat the Jambos 5-0 at Ibrox in the previous tie, and we add Gers to our weekend accumulator, hoping they rediscover their winning ways before it’s too late. The treble remains a possibility at this stage, but hopes are fading fast.

Morton beat Arbroath

Dropping into the Scottish Championship, we back Greenock Morton to bag three points when visiting Arbroath on Saturday. Ton fans have endured a rollercoaster season, watching their side flirt with relegation before pushing hard for a promotion playoff place.

In the end, they’ll settle into mid-table and wind down the clock, but we fancy them beating bottom club Arbroath, who is stuck on a long losing streak. Add Morton to pile on the pressure at decent odds and hope Dougie Imrie’s side shows their best.

Dunfermline beat Queens Park

Sticking with the second tier of Scottish professional football, we’re backing Dunfermline to get the job done against lowly Queens Park. The Pars are winless in their last two Championship outings, taking one point from a possible six, and that ruined any chances they had of making the play-offs.

Some in the squad are playing for their futures, and we expect them to win at home against a Queens Park side that has lost their last three and could be playing League One football next season. Stick with home comforts here.

Partick beat Airdrie

Game of the day in the Championship sees Partick Thistle welcome Airdrie to Glasgow as third plays fourth. Both sides have already secured their place in the playoffs and can begin to dream of playing top-flight football next season. But a win on Saturday could earn them a favourable draw and boost their chances of climbing out of the division.

With both teams level on 51 points, there’s all to play for here, but we trust Glasgow’s third team to make their home advantage count. We’ll require a rub of the green here, but the Jags are certainly capable of getting a result on their patch.
